• Jamie Pressly’s publicist has confirmed that the My Name Is Earl star got engaged this weekend to DJ Eric Cubiche, her boyfriend of a year and a half. But she’s not pregnant… so they say.
• After weeks of mounting pressure and threats of a boycott by religious groups, NBC said yesterday it has decided not to show video of Madonna mounting a Crucifix when it airs her “Confessions” concert special November 22. The pop star, who is an executive producer on the special, agreed to the changes.
• Jessica Simpson told Jane Magazine that she knew her marriage with Nick Lachey was over when he decided not to accompany her on an “Operation Smile>” trip to Africa. “I went there on our three-year wedding anniversary,” she said. “He stayed home.” So they broke up because Nick doesn’t like to do charity work?
• Haley Joel Osment was sentenced to three years probation yesterday on charges of drunken driving and drug possession stemming from a July car accident. The actor pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges.

Jake, 25, was spotted with a new female friend earlier today in the NYC neighborhood. Who’s Jake’s new chickie babe? Why, it’s David Caruso’s 22-year-old daughter, Greta Caruso! Greta is currently attending (or recently graduated) from Yale University.

In an interview in the November 2006 issue of Details magazine, Lance Armstrong dispelled rumors that pals Jake Gyllenhaal and Matthew McConaughey are gay. “We tried it. Wasn’t for us,” Matthew joked. “It’s like, either you sleep with anything that moves or you’re gay,” Lance added.

• The Daily News features a photo of Madonna and newly adopted David Banda in Malawi. Sources tell London’s Daily Mail that the tot has a nursery filled with $25,000 worth of toys, including a child size BMW that he is not yet old enough to operate. The Mail also reports that Madonna plans to fly to California to complete the adoption- on the advice of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who have two adopted children.
• Jake Gyllenhaal and ex Kirsten Dunst had a friendly chat at Capitale on Tuesday night. Dunst’s publicist says the two are “friends.”
• Jennifer Aniston has purchased a $15 million dollar Beverly Hills mansion just three doors away from Friends co-star Courtney Cox. The home is still under construction but will reportedly include six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
• Jessica Simpson will guest star on a November episode of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, reports Life & Style. Jessica will be the musical guest on the show within-the-show.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon are set to co-star in the political thriller ‘Rendition,’ per The Hollywood Reporter. Jake will take on the role of a CIA analyst based in Cairo who finds his world spinning out of control after he witnesses the interrogation of a foreign national by the Egyptian secret police. Reese will play the pregnant American wife of the national. JAKE + REESE =
