A solo Jake Gyllenhaal picks up a few beauty products in Hollywood on Friday afternoon (September 4).

The 28-year-old actor’s new movie Love and Other Drugs will star filming on September 21 in Pittsburgh, Penn. The drama is based on the Jamie Reidy memoir “Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman” about a salesman for male performance-enhancement drugs. A solo Jake Gyllenhaal exits a medical center on Wednesday morning (September 2) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 28-year-old actor is set to guest star in the new production of Shalom Sesame, a Sesame Workshop program that brings the vitality of Israeli life, Jewish culture and tradition to American Jewish children and families.

“Nothing speaks to children and families better than Sesame Street, so the new production of Shalom Sesame is bound to make a real impact on understanding and connection for the newest generation of Israeli and North American Jews,” said executive director Danny Labin. “The project is a platform for children, parents, and educators to explore their Jewish identity, culture and traditions.”

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal hold hands and take a romantic stroll down Abbot Kinney Boulevard on Sunday afternoon (August 30) in Venice, Calif.

Jake, Christina Applegate, Debra Messing, Greg Kinnear and Cedric the Entertainer are among the stars slated to appear in Shalom Sesame, a 12-part series of Sesame Street episodes geared at teaching Jewish-American children about Jewish culture. The series will debut around the Hanukkah holiday in December 2010.

Jake Gyllenhaal scored an exclusive interview with Natalie Portman, his co-star in the upcoming war drama Brothers. Check out some hilarious highlights from the September 2009 issue of Interview Magazine (with Portman on the cover):

JG: What’s your favorite food?

NP: Well, I don’t think you can really improve upon Carvel ice cream cake.

JG: I’m more Baskin-Robbins style myself.

NP: Oh really? I am so Carvel. Did I just bring us back to 1985 Long Island?

JG: What song best describes your current state?

NP: My current state . . . I’m trying to think of a song that feels like sleepwalking. [laughs] I don’t know. I’ve mostly been listening to dirty rap lately. That’s sort of my scene.

JG: Your affection for dirty rap is something that people really don’t know about you, which I think is fascinating. You do incredible things for the world, and then you listen to just completely obscene hip-hop music.

NP: Really, really obscene hip-hop. I love it so much. It makes me laugh and then it makes me want to dance. Those are like my two favorite things, so combined . . . I’ve been listening a lot lately to “Wait (The Whisper Song)” by the Ying Yang Twins, where the lyrics are like, “Wait ’til you see my d—”—which is just amazing because it’s whispered. [whispers] “Wait ’til you see my d— . . . ” [laughs] Crazy. So I just listen to it like I’m a five-year-old, like, “Oh my god! I can’t believe he just said that!”

JG: It’s interesting that you think the lyric “Wait ’til you see my d—” describes your current state. I think people are learning more about you right now then they ever have in an interview. I’m proud of that.

Jake Gyllenhaal takes his girlfriend Reese Witherspoon’s kids — Ava, 9, and Deacon, 5 — to run in the 5K Chilmark Road Race on Saturday (August 8) on Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.

Jake finished in 53rd place in a field of over 1,500 runners. His finish time was 20 minutes and 43 seconds (he was 26th for his age group). Jake’s mother, screenwriter, Naomi Foner, was seen running alongside Deacon.

Jake was also seen saying hello to fellow runner Doug Liman, director of The Bourne Identity.

Reese Witherspoon and beau Jake Gyllenhaal take her kids, Ava, 9, and Deacon, 5, to the Elton John and Billy Joel concert held on Saturday night (August 1) at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Penn.

Deacon had the best view in the house, sitting stop Jake’s shoulders. During the 3-1/2 hour show, Elton dedicated the song “Tiny Dancer” to Reese, saying, “Reese, this one’s for you, girl.”

The happy family danced to “Crocodile Rock” with Reese and Jake bumping their hips together.

Reese is in town shooting the not-yet-titled James L. Brooks movie.

Jake Gyllenhaal and his brother-in-law Peter Sarsgaard (not pictured) watch the LA Dodgers-Cincinnati Reds game at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday (July 22) in Los Angeles.

The 28-year-old actor, who was part of the 56,000 sell-out crowd, sat in Dugout Club seats for the game, which the Dodgers won 6-2.

On Saturday, the Dodgers will host a celebrity softball game featuring Larry King, Rob Lowe, Mario Lopez, and many more. The 51st annual Hollywood Stars Game!
