Avatar director James Cameron sits down with his movie’s stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington and Sigourney Weaver during The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special, which airs TONIGHT (March 3) @ 10-11PM ET on ABC.

Avatar is the recipient of nine Oscar nominations this year, including Best Picture. The Hurt Locker, directed by James’ ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow, is tied for the most nominations this year.

Two of the stars reunited from Fatal Attraction, the 1987 classic film and recipient of six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture — five-time Oscar-nominated actress Glenn Close and multiple Oscar recipient Michael Douglas. Glenn received an Actress in a Leading Role nomination for her part in the film.

James Cameron’s Avatar has surpassed Titanic at the box office!

The film has made more than $1.8 billion worldwide, besting Titanic’s record from 1997, CBS reports.

However, Avatar is still far from the inflation-adjusted record set by Gone with the Wind in 1939 - in today’s money, it took in the equivalent of about $6 billion.

“[James] has so much respect for the audience and the individual theater-goer, he wanted to give them the story he dreamed of seeing when he was 14,” Avatar star Sigourney Weaver told CBS.
