James Franco Picks Pineapple Express

James Franco arrives for the premiere of the film Pineapple Express at the Mann Village Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Pineapple Express is an upcoming 2008 action-comedy film starring Seth Rogen and James Franco and is about their adventures when a drug deal goes bad trying to deal a new strain of weed called Pineapple Express.

Franco, 30, recently was interviewed by NYTimes.com/TMagazine about Pineapple Express, his development as an actor, and who he looked up to as role models.

It was recently reported that J will be taking classes at both Columbia University and New York University.

James Franco Enrolls at Columbia University

Spider-Man star James Franco has enrolled in Columbia University’s Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Writing Program for Fall 2008, according to the school’s unofficial blog BWOG.

The 29-year-old former Freaks & Geeks actor will also reportedly take classes at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University (NYU).

Franco can later this year be seen playing Scott Smith, Harvey Milk’s (Sean Penn) lover and campaign manager in the upcoming film, Milk, out November 2008.

James Franco: Got Milk? GOT MILK!

Spiderman actor James Franco, Speed Racer star Emile Hirsch and American Gangster actor Josh Brolin are all set to appear opposite Sean Penn in Gus Van Sant’s biopic Milk.

Cast details per The Hollywood Reporter: Penn, 47, stars as Harvey Milk, the country’s first openly gay elected official, a San Francisco city supervisor who was assassinated in 1978. Brolin, 39, will play Dan White, the rival politician and supervisor who shot Milk and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone to death at City Hall. Hirsch, 22, has been cast as gay rights activist Cleve Jones, an intern and close ally of Milk’s, who went on to found the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. Franco, 29, will play Scott Smith, Milk’s lover and campaign manager.

Filming begins January 2008 in San Francisco, where Milk became the first openly gay man elected to office in 1977.

The season 3 finale of The Hills will air on Monday, Dec. 10 but not so fast! According to People, the season finale celebration will begin the day before, on Dec. 9, when MTV airs The Hills: Lauren Looks Back, beginning at 12 p.m. ET.

The Hills Finale: Live in Hollywood will broadcast live on Monday from L.A. hot spot Area, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The finale itself airs at 10 p.m. ET, followed by a live after-show, during which the ladies will answer questions from viewers and then make “an announcement that will leave fans wanting more,” according to MTV.

James Franco @ ‘In the Valley of Elah’ Premiere

James Franco attends the Los Angeles premiere of mystery thriller In the Valley of Elah at the ArcLight Cinema on Thursday in Hollywood.

In the Paul Haggis-directed film, Franco, 29, plays Sgt. Dan Carnelli. Here are the major plot points: The film tells the story of war veteran Hank Deerfield (Tommy Lee Jones), his wife Joan (Susan Sarandon) and the search for their son Mike (Jonathan Tucker), a soldier who recently returned from Iraq but has mysteriously gone missing, and the police detective (Charlize Theron) who helps in the investigation.

In the Valley of Elah is in limited theaters nationwide now.
