True Blood hunk Alexander Skarsgard wraps his arm around co-star Rhys Coiro on the set of his new movie, Straw Dogs, in Shreveport, Louisiana on Friday (October 2).

Here’s the report from Hollywood Elsewhere: “Today’s visit to the Straw Dogs interior sound-stage set in downtown Shreveport, Louisiana was a fascinating burrow; ditto visiting the exterior of the farmhouse, located in the fictional Mississippi town of Blackwater, that David and Amy Sumner (James Marsden, Kate Bosworth) move into, live in and then, during the third act, defend in a violent siege by five locals (James Woods, Alexander Skarsgard, Drew Powell, Rhys Coiro, Billy Lush). Except I’m not allowed to write about anything except in a general way, so here’s some aroma & atmosphere.”

True Blood hunk Alexander Skarsgard and Kate Bosworth join James Marsden in the upcoming thriller Straw Dogs, a remake of Sam Peckinpah’s movie that starred Dustin Hoffman.

Synopsis via The Hollywood Reporter: A Hollywood screenwriter (Marsden) encounters bloody threats and conflict from locals in a small Southern town after he and his wife (Bosworth) move there. Alexander will play her high school boyfriend, Charlie.

A new episode of True Blood airs @ 9PM ET/PT this Sunday, July 19 on HBO. Alexander plays the enigmatic vampire Eric Northman.

James Marsden hosts the EB Medical Research Foundation picnic held at The Malibu Lumber Yard on Sunday (June 28) in Malibu, Calif.

British singing sensation Leona Lewis poses with an elephant stuffed animal in support of The Elephant Project, an organization to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association.

The organization was started by David Niederhoffer, now 18, after his grandfather passed away from Alzheimer’s disease. There is a phrase that says “elephants never forget,” and in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, Niederhoffer is striving for those affected by the disease to “never forget.”

Here’s how it works: Well-known celebrities pose with an elephant beanie baby and sign a special Elephant Project card, which are then auctioned off to raise money to fight Alzheimer’s disease. Each auction package comes with an 8×10 picture of the celebrity and the elephant, a signed card from that celebrity, and an elephant beanie baby. Such celebrities as Zac Efron, Adam Sandler, Julie Andrews, and MANY more have participated in the project. James Marsden, Julianne Moore and Jennifer Garner are pictured below.

Currently, over $11,500 has been raised for Alzheimer’s care, research and support! The Summer 2008 round of Elephant Project auctions began yesterday with five to six auctions going live each day until Sunday, July 27th.

With bone structure like this, James Marsden is the kind of actor you expect to get the girl. But he doesn’t. Ever. As Cyclops in X-Men, he was overshadowed by Wolverine. In The Notebook, Rachel McAdams chose Ryan Gosling. In Superman Returns, he’s engaged to Lois Lane, and yet she still had a kid with Superman! (spoiler alert) But in this month’s 27 Dresses, Marsden plays opposite Knocked Up’s Katherine Heigl, and he finally comes out on top.

“I’ve been up-and-coming for fifteen years now,” he says. “And to tell you the truth, it’s the perfect place to be.” It certainly makes fatherhood easier (he’s married with two kids). “I can still walk into the grocery store and most people don’t even blink an eye. If I can manage to still be up-and-coming when I’m 80 years old, then I’ll know I’ve had the ultimate career.”

Marsden most likely plays the man Heigl’s character is secretly in love with. Also pictured in purple below: co-star Judy Greer.

The latest notable film roles Marsden has played: TV dance show host Corny Collins in Hairspray, Richard White (Editor-in-Chief Perry White’s nephew) in Superman Returns and ScottSummer/Cyclops in the X-Men film franchise.
