Lynne Spears, the mother of Spears sisters Britney and Jamie Lynn, opened up to The Today Show earlier this morning to talk about her new book, “Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World.” She talked about how Britney is doing now and what it was like to find out Jamie Lynn was pregnant.

On why she wrote the book: “I have sat for hours thinking and thinking about everything that’s happened. It’s been a whirlwind. It’s been a wild ride for everybody. I think there was the tabloid version of our lives. I wanted people to see our family as we really are.”

On getting sucked into fame and fortune: “There’s the honeymoon phase at first. Everything is fabulous. Look at the wonderful trips she gets to go on. Look at the wonderful people she’s meeting. Then there’s the ugly side of things that turns, and we weren’t ready for that, either.”

On being a stage mom: “Britney pushed me, because I was a teacher… In Louisiana I had a preschool for 15 years and then I went into the public school. Of course I tried to be with Britney as much as I could, but when she was 15, 16 years old that’s when Felicia, a very good family friend, she traveled with Britney. I had to stay home, because Jamie Lynn was in school. I had another daughter. Another misconception was that I was always with Britney when I really wasn’t.”

On the 1999 Rolling Stone cover where Britney posed in her bra: “We were in shock at what was going on, and we were in awe. We didn’t have any choice in the pictures. We had no one that could tell us what we were supposed to be doing.”

On her darkest time when Britney was committed to a hospital for psychiatric problems and Jamie Lynn was 16 and pregnant: “It was so crazy at that time. I don’t think anybody was trying to sit and think what was going on. We were praying very hard, because it seemed like we were having no control over anything that was happening. We were trying.”

Jamie Lynn Spears grabs lunch at a restaurant with a gal pal and newborn daughter Maddie Briann, 10 weeks, in McComb, Mississippi late last week.

The 17-year-old new mom wore a pretty-in-pink “Chillin’ in the Club” t-shirt and short green athletic shorts. Noticeably missing was her teenager fiance Casey Aldridge.

Jamie Lynn carried around baby Maddie in the carseat portion of her Graco MetroLite Travel System in Cherry Blossom.

Jamie Lynn Spears‘ boyfriend, Casey Aldridge, was seeing Kelli Dawson, a woman in her late twenties, while Jamie Lynn was pregnant with the couple’s first child.

Kelli Dawson claims she and Casey, 19, were still sleeping together when Jamie Lynn, now 17, was six months pregnant with his child, she said in an interview with In Touch.

“We were both really attracted to each other,” Kelli reveals. “He totally instigated it and pursued me. His friends would tell me that he liked me, that he thought I was pretty.”

Kelli says she and Casey stopped sleeping together a few months before Jamie Lynn gave birth to their daughter, Maddie. “It just didn’t feel right,” she explains. “He had to deal with the baby coming, and it had to stop.”

Britney Spears‘ first husband, Jason Alexander, has confirmed the story, saying it had become common knowledge that Casey was cheating on Jamie Lynn, the mother of his child.

Jamie Lynn Spears heads out and takes her baby Maddie Briann to the medical center for an appointment and then to goes Walmart for some shopping in McComb, Mississippi on Wednesday.

After shopping, Jamie Lynn went to lunch at Nyla’s Burger Basket which is a Spears family favorite!

The rumors regarding Jamie Lynn’s wedding plans are still up in the air with claims that she will walk down the aisle before the end of the year.

Jamie Lynn Spears has already started planning her wedding, and she and Casey Alridge will walk down the aisle together before the end of the year.

The couple will not be married very far nor at some celebrity resort, opting instead for something closer to home. “She loves everything about the area where she lives. She’s not going to get married at some luxury resort in the Caribbean or a hotel in Beverly Hills,” a friend of the bride-to-be tells OK!. “Her own backyard with just the people who matter most is more Jamie Lynn’s style.”

Britney Spears will be Jamie Lynn’s maid of honor, and Casey’s sister Ashlee will be one of her bridesmaids. Maddie will possibly be in a basket decorated with flowers and carried into the ceremony by the bride and groom’s mothers.

For Jamie, family comes first, saying, “Around here, everyone has the same focus. The focus is family, and that’s a good way to live.”

The 17-year-old actress also talks about life with boyfriend Casey Aldridge, parenting classes and labor pains! “They’d told me it would be an eight- to 12-hour labor, and I was ready to have the baby in three to four hours,” said Jamie. “I had a perfect pregnancy and a perfect delivery. I was very blessed.”

The former Zoey 101 star continued, “We get up in the morning, and she gets her little bath. Then I get my bath. We have a routine, and I love routines. I’ve worked one out with her, and we’re happy going about our little life!”

Jamie Lynn Spears and fiance Casey Aldridge are proud parents of Maddie Brian, reports E!.

Their beautiful daughter was born at the Mississippi Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, Miss. just after 9:30am.

Jamie, 17 and Casey, 19, were joined at the hospital by her parents around 5:45am. Sister Britney and brother Bryan arrived around 8. It is the first child for the happy couple.

Pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears and her fiance Casey Aldridge run errands in McComb, Mississippi on Saturday.

While out, the couple purchased up a few items from Lowe’s and Sears, including a Craftsman Mechanics Tool Set. They also went through a car wash and picked up fast food from McDonald’s.

Jamie Lynn and Casey are expecting their first child together in late June/early July.

BTW, I spotted Lynne Spears at Z100’s Zootopia concert at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Saturday. YES, LYNNE SPEARS. But no, she was not accompanied by either of her daughthers, Britney or Jamie Lynn. However, she was chatting up a storm with Jill Zarin, one of the ladies from Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York.
