Janet Jackson made a brief appearance onstage during the 2009 BET Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (June 28) in Los Angeles.

The 43-year-old sister of Michael Jackson honored her older brother during the ceremony, saying, “My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was just too painful, so they elected me to speak to all of you. I’m going to keep it very short. To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family. And he will forever live in all of our hearts. On behalf of my family, and myself, thank you for all of your love. Thank you for all of your support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much.”

After Janet left the stage, host Jamie Foxx and Ne-Yo sang a tribute duet to Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There.”

Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri touch down at La Guardia Airport on Tuesday (March 23) in New York City.

Earlier this month, Lionsgate that the studio has acquired the rights to Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too, the sequel to the 2007 film Why Did I Get Married staring Jackson. The original cast, including Perry, Jackson, and Jill Scott, is expected to be retained for the sequel.

Jermaine Dupri, aka Janet Jackson’s longtime rapper/producer boyfriend, has taken to his blog to shoot down pregnancy rumors:

“To all the Janet fans, As you all know Janet is a very private person. The only reason you see her, as much as you do on my YouTube vlog, is because of me lol. But I hear ya’ll and your questions. So hear [sic] you have it… No she is not pregnant and yes we’re still together.”

Janet Jackson has reportedly been telling friends “Yes, I’m pregnant”, according to the latest issue of Life & Style.

Recently, Jermaine went on the record and told Us Weekly that Janet is not pregnant.

Janet Jackson cut ties with Island Def Jam Music Group and is officially a free agent, super producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins tells Rap-Up.

“We didn’t get the support from the record company,” Darkchild discloses. “[Janet] felt like it wasn’t pushed. I felt like it wasn’t pushed correctly. She just didn’t get her just dues as an artist of that magnitude.”

Darkchild also shared that he’ll probably be involved in Janet’s next record: “I could make an album with her, possibly me, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis. Keep it real simple. They focus on what they’re great at, I focus on what I’m great at. We come together and make a classic Janet record.”

Janet Jackson goes through several interesting costume choices on the first night of the Los Angeles leg of her Rock Witchu tour at the Staples Center on Wednesday night.

This is Janet’s first tour in seven years and is in promotion of her latest album, Discipline. It appears that 42-year-old singer pulls up someone from the audience and simulates some very provocative moves on him. She sure teaches him a bit of discipline…
