Jennifer Garner Teams Up With Ricky Gervais Fri, 25 April 2008
Jennifer Garner chats with costar/director Ricky Gervais as she walks back to her trailer after shooting a scene for their new movie, This Side of the Truth, on Friday in Boston, Mass.
Here are some more quotes from her Self interview:
On getting wrinkles on her face: What do you mean? That hasn’t happened yet! No, every now and then I have a moment when I look in the mirror and go ‘Yep, I’m not 22′. Like after a night when I haven’t slept, for example. You don’t think it’s going to happen, and then you hit 30! I’m not freaked out by it, but, you know, if a lotion says age-reverse, I’m more likely to use it now than ever before. Might as well reverse.
On where to vacation over the summer: I love Hawaii. We don’t go somewhere every summer, but last year we had a long vacation in Kauai. Your whole energy just downshifts to a much more mellow place there. I stay as far from the phone and Blackberry as possible. It’s good to force yourself to do that. Whenever your family takes time out to be all together, it kind of has a golden glow when you look back on it. On those sailing vacations when I was a kid, it was hot and there was no wind and we were just sitting in the middle of the bay. But even those things — in retrospect, you think, Oh, we were all together. How beautiful.
Jennifer Garner Shows Her Side of the Truth Fri, 25 April 2008
Jennifer Garner shoots scenes for her new movie, This Side of the Truth, on Thursday in Boston, Mass. (Husband Ben Affleck is a big Red Sox fan and one of her sisters lives in town.)
During a film break, Jen, 36, spent some mother-daughter bonding time with Violet, 2 1/2.
This Side of the Truth is a comedy set on an alternate Earth where no-one has ever lied, and stars Ricky Gervais (UK’s The Office) as a performer who tells the world’s first, coming to wield its power for personal gain. Gervais is also directing. Kudos to Jen for picking good movies–this seems like another winner!
The film has a star-studded cast complete with Rob Lowe, Jonah Hill, Tina Fey, Jeffrey Tambor, Jason Bateman and Patrick Stewart. Bateman starred in Juno with Garner. Tambor and Bateman worked on Arrested Development together.
Jennifer Garner - May 2008 Self Magazine Thu, 24 April 2008
Jennifer Garner gives us her patented smile and lets her guard down in the May 2008 issue of Self.
Jen, 36, talks about the love of daughter Violet, 2, husband Ben Affleck, 35, sunscreen and the summer!
On summer being her favorite season: “What’s not to love about summer? I love all the fruit that’s available. I love the farmers’ market. I love that everybody relaxes a bit more. You can feel it in their face and demeanor. People leave work a little earlier.”
On being the sunscreen carrier in the Garner-Affleck family: “Yes, I am, like it or not. As the woman in the family, whether you’re the daughter, sister, wife or mother, you’re kind of in charge of having sunscreen in your bag and making sure your family is protected. And I buy everybody big, floppy sun hats.”
On growing their own food: “Yes! We planted a garden last spring. Half the stuff dies, half the stuff lives, but I’m happy with it. We had huge eggplants! And there’s nothing like fresh tomatoes. And the herbs? Heaven! I grow all different kinds of basil and thyme. I always have rosemary and Italian parsley.”
On everyone thinking she is always pregnant:
“Yes, everyone continues to think that I’m two months pregnant. But at this point, it’s just laziness! I think your body shifts. If I gained weight before, it didn’t go to my stomach. Now it’ll go to my stomach and lower half. Where I used to be flat, now — when I wear a T-shirt — you see a little bit of normal person.”

Jennifer Garner has teamed up with her producing partner Juliana Janes to sign a first-look deal with Warner Bros. for their Vandalia Films banner, Variety reports.
One project in development is 3 Days in Europe, a romantic adventure following a couple as they face danger and excitement on what was supposed to be the perfect Valentine’s Day vacation.
Vandalia Films has partnered with Hugh Jackman and John Palermo of Seed Prods. to bring the graphic novel to the bigscreen. Jackman and Garner are attached to star.
“To start with, we’ll develop material as potential starring vehicles for me,” Jennifer said. “I’d have to be pretty passionate about something to commit to the project if I wasn’t intending to be in it.”

Bennifer’s House Hunting Continues Sat, 09 February 2008
Casual-looking couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner get in some more house hunting sans daughter Violet in Venice, Calif. on Friday.
Ben, 35, wore a Gold’s gym sweatshirt. Jen, 35, wore a “The O’Neill” sweatshirt, promoting The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center.
Ben was recently written up in a Canadian paper, which said the film he directed (Gone Baby Bone) was robbed of an Oscar nomination. They also compare his role as a director to Clint Eastwood’s. Here’s a snippet:
“So, what does Affleck’s film have to do with the legendary Clint? Well, it’s that Eastwood directed Mystic River, another compelling crime drama that earned Clint a best directing Oscar nomination (he ultimately lost to Peter Jackson, whose Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King dominated that year).
“Mystic was written by Dennis Lehane, who also wrote Gone Baby Gone. And, quite frankly - and shockingly - I think Affleck’s picture is far more compelling and impressively told than Eastwood’s was.”
