A newly single Jennifer Love Hewitt treats herself to some retail therapy on Sunday afternoon (March 14) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 31-year-old actress recently split from her Ghost Whisperer co-star Jamie Kennedy.

“[The break-up] wasn’t contentious,” a source tells People. “It had kind of just run its course … They just sort of looked at each other and said, ‘We like each other and we make each other laugh, but this isn’t for the long-term.’”

The source continued, “She’s working constantly, and Jamie’s working on the show and touring [with his stand-up comedy act]. It just isn’t conducive to a relationship.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt and her boyfriend of a year, Jamie Kennedy, have split.

The 31-year-old actress and her 39-year-old Ghost Whisperer co-star’s breakup was confirmed People late Friday evening.

“There are people in your life who are just supportive and who just look at you and they see who you are,” Jen told Ellen DeGeneres last year. “And [Jamie] really saw who I was as a person more than anybody had ever done in my whole life. I think that’s for me when I sort of went, ‘Oh, wow.’ “

The 31-year-old actress directed and starred in the 100th episode that will air on March 5. The 100th episode, entitled “Implosion” centers on a ghost who knows of a hidden munitions dump with unexploded bombs, and confides in Melinda (Hewitt) that one of those bombs is missing.

“It’s not quite as formulaic as most shows,” executive producer and writer Ian Sander told the NY Daily News. “We’ll do a romantic comedy one week, a horror show the next week, but in the end, in the fifth act, there has to be some sort of cathartic emotional moment. As long as we get to that end the audience expects and loves, we’re good. That’s our goal each week.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt and boyfriend Jamie Kennedy reportedly got engaged engaged on stage at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, Calif., Saturday night (July 18).

According to NY Post, Jamie, 39, was playing stand-up comedian for two hours before he pulled Jennifer up to tell jokes and sing.

During his set, an audience member yelled out, “Marry her!” and Jamie “got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.”

Jennifer, 30, said yes even though he didn’t have a ring and the couple received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Being that this is the age of Twitter, how did the news not break the moment this happened? Fake engagement? Publicity ploy? No official word from the couple yet.

Back in January, Jennifer called off her engagement with then-fiance Ross McCall. Jennifer and Jamie publicly stepped out as a couple in February.

UPDATE: As suspected, the engagement rumors are not true. Jennifer Love’s rep tells JustJared.com, “There is no truth to the report.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt called off her wedding earlier this month and according to Us Weekly, the dress had already been bought and a wedding date had been set.
