Jeremy Piven Diagnosis: Extreme Mercury Toxicity!

Jeremy Piven had to withdraw from his hit Broadway play, Speed-the-Plow, because of extreme mercury toxicity (six times a healthy amount of mercury).

Dr. Carlon Colker, who has been treating the 43-year-old actor, tells ET, “Jeremy is disappointed that members of the production staff of Speed-the-Plow and other members of the entertainment community have not rallied behind him during this health crisis.”

Jeremy is suffering from extreme mercury toxicity. A major symptom of mercury poisoning is extreme fatigue. In addition, Jeremy began experiencing neuro-muscular dysfunction late last week, which led to extreme difficulty in lifting his arms and legs. Then, this past Sunday, he began feeling dizzy.”

Jeremy has been an avid sushi eater for many years, regularly eating sushi twice in one day. He has also taken certain Chinese herbs, and that, in combination with the frequent sushi consumption, could have led to these elevated mercury levels.”

Replacing Piven will be Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz (Dec. 23 to Jan. 11) and Emmy Award winner and Oscar nominee William H. Macy (Jan. 13 to Feb. 22).

Get well soon, Jeremy!!!

Jeremy Piven is Page Six Sexy

Entourage star Jeremy Piven chats candidly with Page Six Magazine about his award-winning role on the HBO show, working on Broadway, and searching for true love.

On the differences between him and his Entourage character Ari Gold: “I’m not Ari. But still, he’s a great character to play–he’s so reactive and living in the moment, but at the same time, he is driven by things that I think are beautiful, like putting food on the table. In life I wouldn’t have the patience for him, and I don’t think he would for me. I’m a stage actor making no money doing a f–cking play. He’d be like ‘Baby, baby. It’s always about the money baby.’ The irony there is pretty thick.”

On if he’s really a womanizer: “It just feels so played out. It’s not really me. In essence, I am a really boring stage actor from Chicago.”

On what it’s like to work on Broadway: “This show [Speed-the-Plow, where Piven plays Hollywood producer Bobby Gould] starts off like the [end] of a boxing round, when there are ten seconds left and you just have to give it all you’ve got. The great ones let their hands go–they let them fly–and they swing. This play feels like swinging from the time the curtain goes up.”

On why he returned to New York City: “I’ve been a moving target for the last two decades… Whenever I come back to New York I think, ‘Why don’t I live here again?’ That was the reason for me to take this play–so I could come here and find a place to live, and establish a solid foundation for myself. That’s what I really need right now.”

On why it’s taken him so long to find true love: “I think seeing my parents together and how they were such a team, it made me think that when you finally pick someone to be with, you do it for keeps… My six-year-old niece put it best when she was talking to my mother about my being single so long. ‘All in his own time, Nana,’ she said, ‘All in his own time.’”

Jeremy Piven Looks into ‘Sex’

A cheerful Jeremy Piven drops by the set of the Sex and the City movie, which was shooting down the street from his Malibu home on Tuesday.

Piven, 42, recently picked up Best Supporting Actor in a series, miniseries or TV movie for his role as sleazy super agent Ari Gold in HBO’s Entourage. He beat out his costar Kevin Dillon, Ted Danson (FX’s Damages), Andy Serkis (HBO’s Longford), William Shatner (ABC’s Boston Legal) and Donald Sutherland (ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money).

And here’s a recent Piven sighting via People: He must be in a festive mood after his Golden Globe win: Jeremy Piven, strolling into Hollywood’s Hyde just after midnight in dark denim and a grey fedora. Walking effortlessly through the crowd, the Entourage star sidled up to the bar, greeted the bartender with a shake and, voila, had some drinks before him. The actor spent some time chatting with his female friend before the two headed to an open area in the lounge where he was greeted – and congratulated? – by fellow clubgoers.

The Entourage At Cannes

The cast of the hit HBO TV series Entourage was on-location in France on the Croisette filming an upcoming episode based on the 60th Annual Cannes Film Festival.

At times, Jeremy Piven, Adrian Grenier, Jerry Ferrara and Kevin Connolly seemed in sync with each other’s stroll and stride. Clearly, a sign of a great balance in any entourage.

Piven, 41, even took some time off of filming to do some meet and greets on the street.
