The 28-year-old country singer is set to rock it out with Rascal Flatts at Madison Square Garden tonight. Jessica appeared on The Early Show where she talked about her latest single and how she’s been feeling lately.

“I grew up with my father being a youth minister, and so as a family we would always pray out loud together,” Jessica said, referring to her latest single “Pray Out Loud.” “Honestly, I am right where I am supposed to be and I am so very, very happy. And right now I’m out on tour with Rascal Flatts having a blast.”

Jessica Simpson, Kellie Pickler, LeAnn Rimes and Julianne Hough read the nominees for the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in the Ford Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tenn. on (January 11) Wednesday.

Unfortunately, Jess, 28, didn’t come away with any nominations!

Entertainer of the Year nods went to: Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, George Strait, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood.

Jessica Simpson takes the cover of OK!’s latest issue, which claims the 28-year-old country singer has a “revenge diet” and will lose 20 pounds in eight weeks.

“She’s gone up a size in jeans, and [boyfriend Tony Romo] could care less,” a friend reveals. “He isn’t interested in some idiot Hollywood bimbo with an eating disorder.”

Ever since Jess showed off a fuller figure at the “99.9 KISS Country Chili Cookoff” last month, critics have been chiming in on her weight debate. Jess is said to get her bikini body back by summer!

“Honestly, I am right where I’m supposed to be. I am so happy,” Jessica told The Early Show. “Right now I’m on tour with Rascal Flatts, having a blast. We’re at Madison Square Garden tomorrow. Everybody’s just been so warm and welcoming. Lots of hugs, I like that … Texas style.”

The 28-year-old country singer’s latest movie, Private Valentine, is headed straight to DVD. Jessica’s previous movie, Blonde Ambition, which co-starred Luke Wilson, went to DVD after a short stint in eight theaters.

On The Today Show, President Obama responded to being bumped off of the cover of US Weekly by Jessica Simpson. “Yeah, it’s a little hurtful!” Then he continued looking at the cover, saying [that Jessica is] “in a weight battle, apparently. Yeah. Oh well.”

The 28-year-old country singer continues to receive attention for her fuller figure, which was first noted last week as she sang at the Chili Cookoff in Florida.

The Today Show’s Matt Lauer spoke to President Obama in a pre-Super Bowl interview and mentioned that him and his family were removed from the US Weekly’s cover shoot to make room for the hot topic of Jessica Simpson’s weight. Obama coyly responded, “Yeah, it’s a little hurtful!” Then he continued looking at the cover, saying [that Jessica is] “in a weight battle, apparently. Yeah. Oh well.”

With her weight debate behind her, Jessica Simpson has a new comedy to promote, the DVD release of Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous.

In the film, Jess plays Megan Valentine, a spoiled Hollywood actress who suddenly finds herself broke single. She ends up at an Army recruiting office and decides to trade in her high heels for combat boots in an impulsive effort to turn her life around. Watch the trailer.

Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous gets released on DVD on February 3rd and also stars Vivica A. Fox, Steve Guttenberg, HSM’s Olesya Rulin and SNL’s Cheri Oteri.

Pete told Extra!, “I think that the media puts too harsh of a spotlight on women in general and I think it’s a bummer. It’s bad for young women. I see it affecting young girls who come to our shows and that’s a bummer.”

He continues, “Real beauty is on the inside, man.”

UPDATE: Pete also tells ET: “I feel like, as a country in particular, we put so many ideas and regulations and thoughts into the heads of young women that they have to look and feel a certain way or else they’re not good enough or they’re not pretty enough. It’s like the cheesiest thing ever to say, but who you are is way more important than how you look.”
