Jessica Simpson hides behind her Dior shades and LV handbag as she leaves her hotel in Charlottesville, Virginia on Thursday (January 29).

The 28-year-old country singer headed to University of Virginia’s John Paul Jones Arena, where she’ll be opening up for country trio Rascal Flatts.

Earlier this week, Jessica has been under fire for having a fuller figure.

“Jessica Simpson is becoming part of this trend we call body-bullying,” People editor Galina Espinoza said on The Today Show earlier this morning. “People are cruelly mocking her, making her feel like there is something wrong with her just because she has a slightly fuller figure. Jessica Simpson’s recent weight gain has become all the buzz lately. Her little sister Ashlee has taken to her MySpace to vent her frustration:

“Since when did a woman’s weight become newsworthy… I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister’s weight. A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman’s weight or figure as a headline on Fox News (”Jessica Simpson Shocks Fans With Noticeably Fuller Figure”.)

“All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you’re a celebrity, there shouldn’t be a different standard. Is this something you would say to your wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, or even a friend? I seriously doubt it.

“How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 figure? Now can we focus on the things that really matter. -Ash ”

Earlier today, one of Jessica’s trainers also defended her fuller figure.

Jessica Simpson showed off her noticeably fuller figure at WKIS’s Chili Cookoff in Florida on Sunday.

Celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, who worked with Jessica on Major Movie Star, is now defending the starlet’s new curves.

Pasternak tells Extra, “She has curves where a woman needs to have curves..We all go a little bit up and a little bit down. But she’s healthy. She’s still sexy. She’s still a beautiful woman. And I have no problem with the way she looks.”

He adds, “I think if more people looked the way she looks now, the country would be a lot healthier. Jessica was a fantastic client. I think Jessica has a really healthy perspective on her healthy body image and looks like a woman. I would take her body any day over somebody who’s emaciated and looks unhealthy.”

Pop-turned-country songstress Jessica Simpson goes for a super casual look as she and her dog get ready to fly out of the airport in Burbank, Calif. on Friday (January 16).

Country crooner Jessica Simpson keeps moving on with the promotional tour of her new fragrance, ‘Fancy’, at Macy’s at the South Coast Plaza Mall in Costa Mesa, Calif. on Saturday.

The fragrance is supposed to capture both of Jessica’s “red carpet glamour” as well as her “casual playful girl next door”.

Rumors are circulating that Jessica wants to, “get married in Texas in the summer and get pregnant soon after.” A friend of Jessica said, “Jessica recently sat Tony down for a baby talk. Unlike Ashlee, Jessica doesn’t want to get pregnant and then get married. She’s a little more traditional, so she’d like to marry Tony first and then get pregnant, ideally on their honeymoon.

Jessica Simpson and BFF Ken Paves are spotted after eating dinner at Mastro’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills on Tuesday night.

The pop-turned-country singer is eager to start touring with Rascal Flatts in mid-January, telling the Chicago Tribune at her Fancy fragrance launch in Chicago: “I can’t wait to be a part of their show and let everyone know that I do actually sing and I’m not just in tabloids.”

She went on to express: “I am a very shy person, but I do believe that God has blessed me with a gift that I need to share. I always wanted to be entertaining in some way. Whether it’s cooking dinner for a best friend or [onstage], I try to do it up right.”
