It’s official! Jessica Simpson’s docu-series The Price of Beauty was just picked up by VH1.

The 28-year-old entertainer will travel the world to study the local fashions, dietary fads and beauty regimes and even participate in some of the extreme practices she discovers.

“When [Chris Coelen, CEO of production company RDF Media] approached me with his idea for a show about true beauty, I was immediately intrigued,” Jessica stated. “I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful, but I know how much pressure some women put on themselves to look perfect. I am really looking forward to discovering how beauty is perceived in different cultures and participating in some of the crazy things people do to feel beautiful. I know we will all learn a lot on this journey and I am so excited that VH1 is coming along on what I’m sure will be a wild ride.”

The Price of Beauty begins shooting in mid-July. Jessica and her dad Joe Simpson will serve as executive producers.

The 28-year-old country singer’s boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, recently mentioned his dream date with Jess, saying, “A little bite to eat and probably watch a football game! She loves the game. It’s exciting for both of us. I’ve found someone that I get to hang out with and who wants to see our team do well!”

The 28-year-old singer has been working on shopping a reality show called The Price of Beauty. The show would be about Jessica and a friend on a trip around the world to explore different beauty standards.

Tony and Jessica were also spotted earlier this week at a friend’s reception and, “were very loving with each other – very affectionate,” a staffer tells People. “She was very gracious.”

Jessica Simpson, who has been lambasted in the media for her fluctuating weight, is working on a reality show called The Price of Beauty.

The reality series is about society’s scrutiny of women’s bodies. A source tells Us Weekly: “She and a friend set off on a road trip around the world in search of what people find beautiful and why.”

The series have been pitched to several TV networks but hasn’t been picked up yet.

During rehearsals, the 28-year-old country singer wore a navy blue dress but then stripped down to a pair of ‘Daisy Dukes’ cut-off denim shorts for the real deal.

“Going on stage now,” Jess tweeted before her performance. “Get ready for greatness, Shamu.”

Jessica Simpson belts it out at the Dixon May Fair in Dixon, California on Friday (May 8).

The 28-year-old Texas-born tease recently covered the June 2009 issue of Vanity Fair.

She spoke about her earlier years and getting married to Nick Lachey, saying, “It was what we all wanted. Go to college, get married, and have babies. It was my way of thinking. At 16, every boyfriend I had I was going to marry!”

Both Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo open up in the June 2009 issue of Vanity Fair (on sale in NY/LA May 6 and nationally May 12). Here’s what the couple shared:

Romo on having a supportive girlfriend: “You know, it’s very hard when you lose, because games are important, and so many people put so much time and effort in. It’s nice to have someone to come home to and try and make you feel better… We’re very similar in that we both appreciate the hometown feel to a lot of things, and live our life like that. She comes to a ton of games. She’s a supportive girlfriend.”

Simpson on ignoring the media: “When it comes to media criticism, that’s just something I have had to train myself—literally train myself—to ignore…. I mean, the way people make it sound, I should have never been singing in the first place…. It comes with what I do, and I know that every day the media’s going to challenge me, is going to want to bring me down. But I feel like I’m at such a place that I own myself, and it’s authentic. I own that authentic part of myself, and none of those words are harsh enough to make me believe them…. I can’t imagine saying some of the things people have said about me about anybody else.”

Simpson on ex-husband Nick Lachey and whether or not Newlyweds affected their marriage: “I have not spoken to him in years. [As for the show,] in all honesty, I believe it did not affect our marriage. Because we enjoyed watching those episodes, and that will always be a time I cherish. It made me understand what marriage is, what love is, what commitment is.”

Simpson on her faith: “I’m spiritual. I live off the faith that has been instilled in me, that has never left. I’ve never let a stumbling block actually make me fall…. We all go through trials, but not one thing has ever made me question God. I have a great relationship with God. I can talk to him, get mad at him, frustrated with him. But, ultimately, my faith is what defines me.”
