Joaquin Phoenix is Voyeur Nightclub Neat

Joaquin Phoenix continues to sport his new clean-cut look as he parties at Voyeur Nightclub in West Hollywood on Sunday (January 31).

In October of 2008, the 35-year-old Walk The Line actor claimed that he had retired from making movies and wanted to concentrate on building a music career.

According to E!, a musician that collaborated with Joaquin said there’s at least eight recorded tracks and called his album “brilliant”.

“He’s a Beatles, Oasis, Bowie-style songwriter,” said musician Julian Shah-Tayler. “I hold it in that high esteem.”

In 2006, Joaquin won a Grammy Award for his work on the Walk The Line soundtrack.

Joaquin Phoenix Gets Hostile With A Heckler

Joaquin Phoenix arrives at LIV Nightclub at Fontainebleau before his hip-pop performance at the venue on Wednesday (March 11) in Miami, Florida.

The 34-year-old actor/rapper jumped off stage in the middle of a performance at the club to confront someone who was heckling his rapping. “We have a (double expletive) in the audience. I’ve got a $1 million in the bank. What have you got?,” Joaquin said before jumping into the crowd.

Security guards had to separate the two and then dragged Joaquin away. Watch the video here!

Last month Joaquin visited The Late Show With David Letterman to promote his latest movie, Two Lovers, which turned into an extremely awkward interview.

Ben Stiller Spoofs Joaquin Phoenix at the Oscars

At the 2009 Oscars on Sunday, Ben Stiller hilariously spoofed Joaquin Phoenix’s infamous appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman.

The 43-year-old comedian poked fun at Joaquin’s facial hair, his spacey moments and gum-chewing. At the show, Ben spit out his gum and put the wad on top of the podium. During rehearsals at the Kodak Theater the day before, I watched Ben stick the wad of gum underneath the podium, more true to Joaquin sticking his own piece of gum underneath Letterman’s desk.

Joaquin Phoenix Smokes A Stack

Joaquin Phoenix smokes a cancer stick while he waits on a mystery woman who shops at high-end lingerie boutique Kiki De Montparnasse on Thursday (February 19) on Melrose Ave in California.

The pair didn’t seem to want to be seen together when they left the store, and Joaquin was later dropped off at Raleigh Studios in Los Angeles.

Last week, Joaquin dropped by The Late Show With David Letterman to promote his latest movie, Two Lovers, where his extremely awkward interview took place.

Joaquin Phoenix’s Letterman Appearance — HUH?!

Joaquin Phoenix dropped by The Late Show With David Letterman on Thursday to promote his latest movie, Two Lovers.

The 34-year-old actor keeps his head down during most of the interview and doesn’t get very chatty. He even forgets his costar’s name — Gwyneth Paltrow!

In between the many awkward silences, Dave pokes fun at Joaquin’s new look, asking, “What can you tell us about your days with the Unabomber?”

Joaquin does confirm he quit acting to pursue music. However, the audience does burst into laughter when he says he’s recording “more hip-hop music.”

Dave indirectly tells Joaquin it’s rude to chew gum during an interview. Joaquin then takes the gum out of his mouth and sticks it underneath Dave’s desk!!! Dave ends the interview, saying, “Joaquin, I’m sorry you couldn’t be here tonight.”

Watch the must-see interview below. Two Lovers opens in theaters TOMORROW!

Joaquin Phoenix’s Rap Career is Serious, Says Rep

Joaquin Phoenix’s rep Susan Patricola says the actor’s career in rap/hip-hop is not a well-crafted hoax but very real.

“The transition from one career to another is never seamless. It should come as no surprise to anyone that Joaquin came from a musical family, in addition to winning a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Johnny Cash,” Patricola wrote in an e-mail to MTV. “He intends on exploring his musical interests despite speculative, negative or positive reactions.”

EW claims this is all one big prank on the media, with his publicist in on the joke too.

Joaquin Phoenix: Real Rapper?

While Joaquin Phoenix’s attempt to move from acting to rapping has been the subject of much speculation, two people close to Phoenix say that the actor’s career change is not quite as it appears to be.

News broke earlier this month that Casey Affleck would track the musical career of Joaquin Phoenix in a documentary. Phoenix made his debut rap performance last Friday night at Lavo nightclub in Las Vegas, and ended up falling off the stage. Affleck captured it on video and it was posted on YouTube.

“He said, ‘It’s a put-on. I’m going to pretend to have a meltdown and change careers, and Casey is going to film it,’” says one source who recently worked with Phoenix. “It’s an art project for him,” the source told EW. “He’s going full out. He probably has told his reps that he’s quit acting. Joaquin is very smart. This is very conscious. He has a huge degree of control.”
