Joaquin Phoenix @ LAX Airport Wed, 03 October 2007
Joaquin Phoenix, puffing away on a cancer stick, grows a pair of wings and catches a flight out of LAX airport on Wednesday in Los Angeles. The smoking (figuratively and literally) actor was seen hugging, presumably, family.
Joaquin toted around a hot-as-Hades metallic duffel bag by Diane Von Fursternberg.
Mr. Phoenix is on his way to do more press for his upcoming film Reservation Road costarring Jennifer Connelly, Mark Ruffalo, Mira Sorvino and Elle Fanning. The drama thriller will be released nationwide on October 19.

Joaquin Phoenix: I am a Hot Mess Fri, 14 September 2007
Joaquin Phoenix passes by a “YOU ARE A HOT MESS” sign as he jets out of a press event on Thursday during The 32nd Annual Toronto International Film Festival.
Here’s another snippet from the TIFF press conference, where he gives roundabout answers when asked about his performance in Reservation Road: “I’m going to be frank with you. But, to be honest … there is no effect on your real life. And if I said so in the past, I was probably only trying to get nominated (he’s been nominated twice). “And now that that’s done, [laughs] I can finally be honest.”
FYI: Yes, the main image is Photoshopped! The original sign read, “Please ring the bell to open the gate for deliveries.” Hehehe.
Joaquin Phoenix Has Bed Head Fri, 14 September 2007
Joaquin Phoenix lets his bed head hair free at the premiere of Reservation Road at the Varisty 8 theatre during the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday.
Joaquin, 32, was accompanied to the premiere by older sister Rain, 34. Reservation Road opens in theaters nationwide on Oct. 19.
Read this funny tidbit about Joaquin looking like a hot mess on Wednesday via Reuters: “Joaquin Phoenix wins my prize for being the most disheveled looking star at the Toronto International Film Festival news conferences, showing up for the Reservation Road presser looking like a man in desperate need of a shave and a comb. He made attention-getting jokes, even when reporters addressed co-star Jennifer Connelly, fiddled with co-star Mark Ruffalo’s ear and sometimes looked like he was falling asleep. Phoenix also removed the microphone minutes before the news conference was over and grumbled at the technician who came to help him put it back.”

Joaquin Phoenix Looks Hotter with a Hat Thu, 13 September 2007
Here are some pictures of Joaquin Phoenix arriving at the Toronto Airport on Tuesday. Phoenix quickly exited the plane and ran outside to light up a cigarette (he supposedly has a fear of flying).
Joaquin, 32, didn’t look so great at the Reservation Road press conference at the Toronto Film Festival but somehow miraculously looks better with a hat on!
Reservation Road will premiere into the Gala Program tonight at 6:30pm. Co-star Jennifer Connelly will join Joaquin on the red carpet. More Here! »
Joaquin Phoenix @ Toronto Film Festival Wed, 12 September 2007
Color-coordinated co-stars Joaquin Phoenix and Jennifer Connelly attend the Reservation Road press conference during the Toronto International Film Festival 2007 held at the Sutton Place Hotel on Wednesday.
Thankfully Jen’s natural beauty balanced out the hot mess Joaquin looked at TIFF! He looked good a year ago while shooting the film…

Cannes Premiere: We Own The Night Sat, 26 May 2007
Joaquin Phoenix, Eva Mendes, Robert Duvall, and director James Gray were on hand at the Cannes Film Festival on May 25, 2007 to premiere their film, We Own The Night.
The cast looked dashing in classic black and white attire, as is appropriate for the so-called “grandaddy of all film festivals”.
Phoenix and Mendes seemed quite playful on the red carpet, pushing each other and just generally horsing around and having a great time.
There are 30 more photos of the Joaquin, Eva, and the rest of the cast after the jump!
Joaquin’s Glasses Get The Best Of Him Fri, 25 May 2007
Joaquin Phoenix was in France on Friday, May 25, 2007 at the 60th International Cannes Film Festival to promote the film We Own The Night.
Phoenix , 32, was accompanied by the rest of the principle cast characters (sans Mark Wahlberg) of We Own The Night. By his side are Eva Mendes, Robert Duvall, and writer/director James Gray (The Yards).
We Own The Night is a drama set at the height of a bloody 1980s struggle between Gotham cops and a Russian mob that targeted law officers and their families. That led the NYPD to hang “We Own the Night” banners in precinct houses and step up their efforts. Wahlberg and Phoenix play siblings in a cop-dominated family, with Phoenix the black sheep who ends up managing a Russian mob-controlled nightclub.
Check out the gallery to see Joaquin plant a big wet one on Duvall.
Anybody know why he’s trying oh-so-hard to break his sunglasses?
