• Jay-Z and Beyonce are rumored to to marry during his multi-day 37th birthday bash next weekend. Guests of the party were told they will attend a party on a yacht in St. Barts, but insiders say they will also be ferried over to Anguilla for a wedding at Cap Juluca resort. Another spy said the couple toured the site earlier this year and approved it for their nuptials.
• The Post claims newly single Lance Bass showed up to the opening of Sunset Beach in L.A. with “a very attractive man as his date.” Lance did not pose with the man and slipped in and out of the club through the side entrance.
• David Letterman has signed a contract to stay on the air until at least 2010. It was widely reported in September that Letterman had agreed to the deal. Letterman will earn $35 million a year.
• Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s final documentary, called “Ocean’s Deadliest,” has been finished and will air January 21.

Joaquin Phoenix, Jennifer Connelly, Mira Sorvino, and 8-year-old Elle Fanning (Dakota Fanning’s younger sister) were spotted on the set of Reservation Road filming in Connecticut again. (First set of pictures here.) Jennifer looks completely grief-stricken. The acting on this film should be top notch from the actors all around.

Joaquin, 31, and Jennifer, 35, play the characters of Mr. & Mrs. Ethan and Grace Learner. Reservation Road is about two families (Learner and Arno) that become intertwined when the father from one kills the son of the other in a hit-and-run accident. The film will be directed by Terry George (Hotel Rwanda) and also stars Mark Ruffalo.

Joaquin Phoenix and Jennifer Connelly were spotted shooting opening scenes this past Tuesday, Oct. 3, for their upcoming film, Reservation Road. Joaquin, 31, and Jennifer, 35, play the characters of Mr. & Mrs. Ethan and Grace Learner and shot scenes at the Olde Bluebird Inn and Olde Bluebird Garage in Easton, CT. 8-year-old Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning’s younger sister, will also star in this film (see picture of Elle on set). The hype machine, especially in Great Britain, trots out new musical sensations like Detroit rolls out new cars. Every year, there’s another group dubbed and charged with making rock ‘n’ roll meaningful and important again. Bands such as Blur and Oasis have worn the Next-Big-Thing mantle; more recently Kasabian, the Arctic Monkeys and the Kaiser Chiefs have been anointed as nominal saviors.

Then there is People in Planes, a Welsh band that is, no pun intended, flying under the radar of the press.

The band recently received a boost when actor Joaquin Phoenix heard the band, and was so impressed he directed the band’s video for "If You Talk Too Much (My Head Will Explode)."

"It was amazing that someone so famous could be so humble," guitarist Peter Roberts says. "We were getting so much respect from him, it didn’t feel like he was this huge star. And he was just essentially passionate about the music, the art that he was creating."

New York, NY :: Actor Joaquin Phoenix, 31, was out and about this past Friday in Greenwich Village with a new female friend.  The blonde beauty is rumored to be his girlfriend, a model who posed nude with him in a photoshoot.  (What, you don’t remember the naked Joaquin Phoenix pictures?  How could you forget!)  The two were spotted dining together at OTTO Enoteca Pizzeria Restaurant located at 1 Fifth Ave. at 8th St. Thanks, Dominique! New York, NY :: Actor Joaquin Phoenix, 31, walked through SoHo yesterday afternoon with a few friends and a pack of American Spirit cigarettes in his front pocket.  He dropped by the Morrison Hotel Gallery, which sells fine art music photography, located at 124 Prince Street.  Joaquin inquired about some Clash photographs by Bob Gruen that weren’t in stock but said he’d return when they were.  More pictures in the gallery!

Yonkers, New York :: Actors Joaquin Phoenix, 31, and Eva Mendes, 32, filmed scenes from the set of their latest flick We Own The Night (Release Date :: TBD 2007) this past Tuesday. Christopher Walken and Mark Wahlberg also co-star in this movie written and directed by James Gray. Walken will play the patriarch of a cop family. While one son (Wahlberg) followed in his footsteps, the other is the black sheep (Phoenix) who’s become manager of a club controlled by the Russian mob. Mendes will play the love interest of the manager, who is caught up in the nightclub world. More pictures in the gallery!
