After a high-profile appearance at the Oscars together, Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer have split, sources close to the couple reveal.
“They had some disagreements and decided to not continue to see each other,” a source tells People. “Jen is moving on with her life like she always does. She seems happy.”
“He broke up with her when she got back from her European tour,” another source tells E! (she was there promoting her doggy flick Marley & Me).
Jennifer Aniston opens up to UK’s Daily Mail about her relationship with John Mayer, turning the big 4-0 and having babies someday.
On describing her life now: “I would say that this is the best moment of my life. I’ve never felt better physically or professionally; I am a very lucky woman.”
On if there is such a thing as a perfect relationship: “I don’t have one and I don’t think it exists. We are just fooling ourselves if we think it does. Whoever said that every relationship has to last for ever? That’s hoping for too much. I think every relationship is a world unto itself… The truth is, I’m very romantic. It’s a shame that people stop being romantic out of laziness. And communication is vital. People often expect their partner to read their minds and when that doesn’t happen, they get upset, then the other person gets even more upset, and it is all because they didn’t talk it over at the beginning.”
On starting a family someday: “Of course I’d like to be a mother some day, and I love children. But a movie like this (Marley & Me) reminds you that you start your life with expectations and dreams, then life unfolds and it doesn’t always turn out the way you’d imagined.”
On what makes her happy: “Just hanging out. Sunsets makes me happy, silly things make me happy. A nice bottle of wine with some good cheese makes me happy. Being in love makes me happy.”
On her future with John Mayer: “I don’t really think about it. I have never been a woman who dreams about getting married and having children and having that house in Connecticut. On the contrary, I’ve always gone with the flow. I enjoy the moment because life goes on while you try to make plans; it’s better to make the most of every second. So I just try to live in the present.”
John Mayer attended the 2009 Oscars with girlfriend Jennifer Aniston on Sunday and admits he was “very, very nervous.”
Here’s what he spilled on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show while promoting his cruise line, the Mayercraft Carrier 2 [via Us]:
On not really fitting in on the red carpet: “It’s not my world, the Oscar thing. You can go from a Grammy winner to a water boy when you walk in the Kodak Theatre on Oscar night. That’s just like a whole different level… So the idea of walking down a red carpet is such … you know that forever, I basically stepped into the picture frame of Hollywood. For one night, I put on the most amazing suit and entered into the picture frame. You have to really be with someone that you know who has your back in that situation, and she did, and it was really great.”
On using Jen’s connections to meet people: “[I asked Jen,] ‘Will you please introduce me to so-and-so?’ It was really, really fun.”
On needing to grow up a little: “As men, we’re incredibly sensitive about the decisions that we make with the women that we’re with. I’m the kind of person who’s like: If I’m going out with a friend who’s bringing a woman and that friend brings another friend and I have to sit on one side of the table with that other person I don’t know, I have a terrible time because I always feel like people look by and go, ‘Oh, look who he’s with!’ The whole thing is very odd to me. I maybe need to grow up or something.”
On why he and Jen decided to make the Oscars their first major public event together: “At some point, you feel comfortable and say this is the choice I want to make. I think a year is a pretty good period of time with which to say, ‘Let’s go have a really good time at the Oscars!’”

The 31-year-old singer said, “I’ll give you the scoop. I’m going to the Oscars!” He continued, “It’s my first Oscars. And it’s my first being an Oscar boyfriend. After that night I have a deal almost signed in blood that says I must go into the studio and finish this record. So after Oscar Sunday, Monday morning I’m invisible!”

The 31-year-old singer reportedly surprised girlfriend Jennifer Aniston on Valentine’s Day by having a private jet take them to the Bahamas last Thursday evening.
The couple boarded a private jet in Los Angeles and flew to the island of Eleuthera, where the singer had rented a gated home. Sources say the couple spent most of their time indoors.
