Jonathan Rhys Meyers was asked at the second season premiere of The Tudors how he liked to invest his money and what he did with his fortune.

“How do I invest my money?” Jonathan asked rhetorically.

“Well, I don’t invest it in Bear Stearns (BSC)!” the 30-year-old Tudors star joked to MainStreet. “I’m Irish. I keep it in mattress.”

What a great idea!

FYI: Bear Stearns’s stock plummeted last week after JPMorgan Chase agreed to buy it for just $2 per share.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers and girlfriend Reena Hammer head out for a night of charitable festivities at the “Not Another Burns’ Night” bash in London on Monday.

The annual celebrity-packed charity fundraiser dinner was held at the St Martin’s Lane Hotel in Covent Garden, hosted by Scottish actor Ewan McGregor and Scottish singer Sharleen Spiteri of the band Texas.

The swank event benefited the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) and Clic Sargent (CLIC).

Jonathan Rhys, 30, picked up Best Actor in a Lead Role on a Television Series for his critically-acclaimed acting as King Henry VIII. The Tudors costars Maria Doyle Kennedy and Nick Dunning also won the Best Supporting Actress and Actor in Television awards respectively. In the technical categories, The Tudors won the Best Costume (Joan Bergin), Best Hair & Make-Up (Jennifer Hegarty, Dee Corcoran) and Best Production Design (Tom Conroy) awards.
