Another celebrity is off the hook!

Charges against Jonathan Rhys Meyers were dropped at Dublin District Court Wednesday after apologizing through his lawyer, Michael Staines, for being drunk and abusive at Dublin Airport last month.

His lawyer told the court his client’s behavior was “out of character” and that he wished to “unreservedly apologize” to airport security guards, police and staff at the British airline BMI.

Rhys Meyers, however, was given a legal caution** and also offered to make a sizable donation to to an unspecified charity. His mother died two days after the incident at the airport.

**A legal caution is a probationary action under which he could face harsher penalties if he behaves that way in public in Ireland again.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers bid his mother, Geraldine O’Keeffe, a final farewell at her funeral on Friday at St. Joseph’s Church in Glanmire, County Cork, Ireland. Mrs. Meyers O’Keeffe passed away on Tuesday morning at Mercy University Hospital following a short illness.

The Tudors actor was accompanied to the funeral by his girlfriend Reena Hammer. Fellow Irish actor Colin Farrell was also in attendance, seen embracing Jonathan (pictured below). Irish actor Cillian Murphy was also reportedly there. His flowers and card can be seen below.

JRM’s father John O’Keeffe and his three brothers Alan, Jamie and Paul, heard Priest Noel O’Sullivan describe Mrs. Meyers O’Keeffe as a “loving, caring mother, who would go out of her way to help people.”

Geraldine Meyers-O’Keeffe, the 50-year-old mother of The Tudors star Jonathan Rhys Meyers, died in hospital in Cork, Ireland on Tuesday.

Just this past Sunday, Rhys Meyers, 30, was arrested at Dublin airport for public drunkenness and breach of the peace. He’s due in court in December.

In April, Rhys Meyers entered rehab for an alcohol-treatment program.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers was arrested Sunday for public drunkenness and breach of the peace at Dublin Airport.

The 30-year-old Irish actor was confronted twice by police over his “erratic, abusive” behavior at an airport gate and at a desk of the British airline BMI, on which he was planning to fly to London.

“I gave up drinking a few years ago, and this is the first time I’ve spent time in my country trying not to drink,” Jonathan Rhys said in an October 2006 interview. “I would never drink again. It is hard to avoid. But listen, you do what you want to do. I don’t want to do that. I want my career, and you can’t really do that and be successful on the screen.”

His latest film August Rush will be released in theaters nationwide next Wednesday, Nov. 21.
