Jordin Sparks is a sight to see as she appears at Vision East Expo for Revolution Eyewear in New York City on Saturday.

It’s been a whirlwind for J, 18, since winning American Idol. She had to be persistent, however, as she initially turned down by Idol!

“I went to audition in LA, because it was the closest audition city to Arizona. You have to go through a couple auditions before you get to Randy, Paula and Simon, but I didn’t even make it past the first audition in LA! I was told that I was really good and they really liked me, but something was missing. I went back home and did this thing called Arizona Idol, and as a prize I won a trip to the next nearest audition city, and that happened to be Seattle. This time I made it past the other rounds and finally got to the judges. The rest is history!”, said Jordin.

Jordin Sparks sings at Fight Night XIV held at the JW Marriott Resort in Phoenix on Saturday.

Muhammad Ali and his wife Lonnie hosted the event and were joined by celebrities and entertainers for the fight against Parkinson’s disease at the 14th annual event.

Dozens of athletes and celebrities turned out including Whitney Houston, Grant Hill, Shaquille O’Neal, Tony Hawk, Vince Young, Michael Johnson, and Ray Lewis, among others.

Throughout Celebrity Fight Night’s thirteen year history over $45 million has been raised.

Jordin Sparks performs her new single “No Air” (feat. Chris Brown) during TRL’s Spankin’ New Ladies Week at the MTV Times Square Studios in New York City on Monday.

The 18-year-old American Idol champ also premiered her new “No Air” Music Video.

Jordin Sparks works the red carpet in a strapless brown dress at the 2008 NAACP Image Awards held at the Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on Thursday, Valentine’s Day.

The 18-year-old American Idol alum was honored by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) with the Outstanding New Artist award.

American Idol champ Jordin Sparks (in Dolce & Gabbana) performs “The Star-Spangled Banner (National Anthem)” during the pre-game show prior to the start of Super Bowl XLII on Sunday at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Jordin is the daughter of ex-Giant player Phillippi Sparks and must have joined in on the celebration as the Giants completed an exciting win over the New England Patriots!

When asked what she thought of her performance, Jordin said she was a “very, very, very happy” girl.

On her wardrobe secret:“I always wear spandex shorts under any dress because there could be a breeze. I could sit the wrong way. It’s a safety issue.”

On her fashion weakness: “I have a ton of shoes. I have a pair of Adidas that I just bought. They’re really, really cool. They go with everything!”

On her fave dance music: “I love stuff with really driving beats. I love Justin Timberlake’s songs, [and] Kanye West is good to dance to.” Dream Role “My favorite Broadway play is Smoky Joe’s Café, and I would love to play any of the girls. I saw it like seven times when it was playing in New York!”
