Jude Law discusses his return to the stage after a seven-year hiatus in the latest issue of Vogue.

Last summer, the 36-year-old British actor dazzled critics and drew adoring crowds with his charismatic portrayal of Hamlet in London’s West End. The production is currently on Broadway with a 12-week run at the Broadhurst.

“Someone once told me that you don’t play Hamlet—Hamlet plays you,” says Jude. “He demands such a reveal of your inner feelings and thoughts that you have to open yourself up to him and see where he takes you.”

Jude adds, “You see Hamlet struggling with these questions about why we’re here and what the work of life is, but ultimately, as with all great writing, the answers are really left up to us. At the heart of this character is someone we all recognize as ourselves.”

Jude Law’s baby mama Samantha Burke gave birth to a daughter on Tuesday night (September 22).

Reportedly, her name is Sophia.

“I doubt Jude was there [but] Samantha is doing well,” a friend of the family tells People. “Besides the financial support, he’s not involved.”

Jude, 36, and Samantha, 24, met while he was filming Sherlock Holmes in New York City last year. He currently stars in the Broadway play, Hamlet. Jude has three other children with ex-wife Sadie Frost.

Last week, the 36-year-old British actor was cleared of assault charges after a female photographer alleged that he assaulted her outside a London club.

The Crown Prosecution Service said that, “while Mr. Law accepted that he may have come into contact with someone whilst attempting to make his way to his car, it is highly likely that a court would decide his actions were reasonable given that his path was deliberately impeded by a crowd of photographers.”

Jude Law shares a laugh with his BFF, fellow British actor Jonny Lee Miller, while taking a stroll through the West Village neighborhood of New York City on Monday (September 14).

Jonny was seen pushing his son Buster Miller, 9 months, in a Baby Jogger City Mini stroller. Jude’s BFF assistant Ben Jackson also tagged along for the walk.

Both Jude and Jonny are starring in Broadway plays this fall — Jude in Hamlet and Jonny in After Miss Julie (co-starring Sienna Miller, Jude’s ex).

Last night, the 36-year-old British actor and his Hamlet castmates had quite a blast at an after-party for the 2009 MTV VMAs at NYC hotspot 1Oak. Jude was seen dancing around a stripper pole with two female friends while the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” played in the background. He was also seen giving spirit fingers while Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” was playing. Jude’s assistant BFF Ben Jackson was also present.

Jude Law catches a flight out of London’s Heathrow Airport on Monday (September 7).

The 36-year-old actor landed in New York City via JFK airport late Monday night.

Jude is preparing to play Hamlet on Broadway for 12 weeks starting on Saturday (September 12) at the at Broadhurst Theatre (235 W 44th St). You can pick up tickets at HamletBroadway.com.
