Jude Law was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted paparazzi outside his London home. The British actor turned himself in, was fingerprinted and bailed to return next month.

A police spokesman said: “A 34-year-old man from Maida Vale was arrested yesterday on suspicion of actual bodily harm after voluntarily attending a London police station.

“The arrest followed an allegation of assault yesterday at a residential address in Maida Vale.

“The 34-year-old man was released on bail to a date in October pending further inquiries.”

UPDATE: Jude’s rep tells Us Weekly that Jude was not arrested: “I can confirm that Jude Law voluntarily attended Marylebone Police Station yesterday following an alleged incident outside his house earlier in the day. Mr Law provided police with a statement regarding his denials of allegations by a ‘paparazzi’ photographer against him and made his own allegations concerning the photographer. Jude has the utmost respect for the police and whilst this is an ongoing matter no further comment will be made.”

Jude, 34, recently hit up The Venice Film Festival to premiere his twisty two-character thriller Sleuth.

Jude Law keeps in casual in a pair of black Nike sneakers (with red swooshes) for the Sleuth photocall during Day 2 of the 64th Annual Venice Film Festival on Thursday in Venice, Italy. The British beauty was accompanied by co-star Michael Caine and director Kenneth Branagh.

In the film, on his sprawling country estate, an aging writer (Caine) matches wits with the struggling actor (Law) who has stolen his wife’s heart. Caine played the role of Milo Tindle in the original 1972 film Sleuth. In the 2007 film, Caine performs the role of Andrew Wyke, originated by Sir Laurence Olivier, and Jude performs Caine’s original role of Milo Tindle. This is the second film in which Jude performs a role originated by Caine. In the 2004 film Alfie, Jude played Caine’s career-establishing role of the title character, Alfie.

Sleuth opens in limited release on October 12.

Jude, 34, has been romantically linked to German beauty queen Susan Hoecke but his rep Sara Keene recently quashed those rumors saying, “They are just good friends and have known each other for a couple of years.”

Reunited and it feels so good!

The Holiday co-stars Jude Law and Cameron Diaz dine with friends at Maestro’s Steakhouse in Los Angeles on Sunday.

But don’t think there’s a romance brewing here! Jude’s rep has dismissed reports he is romancing Cameron, insisting they are “just friends.”

The pair was accompanied by Angelina Jolie’s ex-hubby Jonny Lee Miller. Jude and Johnny lived near each other in Primrose Hill, London when they were younger. They also had formed Natural Nylon, a British film production company, back in 1997 but it folded a few years later.

Jude Law takes a walk around town on Wednesday in Los Angeles (in his Mercedes-Benz convertible on Tuesday). Looks like he’s memorizing his lines from a movie script!

Jude is in LA to shoot his forthcoming futuristic adventure thriller Repossession Mambo with Forest Whitaker. This will be Miguel Sapochnik’s directorial debut for Universal Pictures.

What in blue blazes is this film about, you ask? Wikipedia says, “A repo man, who is made up of artificial organs, struggles to make payments for his heart transplant. Unable to provide the money, he runs from his former partner.”

But don’t expect to see this film any time soon. This film is set for a 2010 release day, according to IMDB!

Jude Law traveled and filmed in war-town Afghanistan to help promote the United Nation’s annual Peace One Day on Sept. 21, their annual day of worldwide cease-fire and nonviolence.

Accompanied by British filmmaker Jeremy Gilley, the pair interviewed children, government ministers and community leaders.

“Afghanistan will be the focal point for the second film, so it seemed important that Jeremy also have a sounding board, a third-party perspective on his trip,” Jude told reporters Thursday inside a guarded U.N. compound in Kabul.

“This film is about documenting and seeing how Peace Day can save lives,” he added “This is a country I’d always wanted to visit. It was a situation that I found intriguing. I felt that if it was safe for Jeremy it must be safe for me.”

“Wouldn’t it be a wonderful international message to come from a country which is perceived as a country purely of conflict, that this message of peace can sing out of it?” he asked.

Jude Law grabs a wad of cash from the ATM and gets his java fix at Starbucks while out and about in London on Tuesday.

The Oscar-nominated star, 35, will soon be flying off to war-torn Afghanistan with fellow Brit Jeremy Gilley to film a documentary for UK’s BBC TV channel, according to The Mirror. The pair will spend time with Afghan children as they record preparations by children’s charity Unicef for Peace Day on September 21.

Jude Law’s good friend and personal assistant, Ben Jackson, shoves his finger into his mouth in hopes to picking out the remnants of his lunch on Sunday in London, England.

Jude and Ben, who’s also a former Calvin Klein model, grabbed lunch together with two of their female friends.

The father-of-three was recently seen eating lunch with a gal pal in Paris.
