Kate Walsh spends her afternoon running errands around Los Angeles on Saturday.

The 40-year-old Private Practice star grabbed brunch with two girlfriends at West Hollywood’s Jinky’s Cafe, which is a fusion of American, Southwestern, and International flavors.

Kate then threw on a white bucket hat, filled up her Porsche convertible at a local gas station and stopped off at Book Soup bookstore for some magazines.

Finally, Ms. Walsh picked up a lovely bouquet of flowers before heading home to her movie exec husband Alex Young,

On Tuesday night, the Private Practice star showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live wearing nothing but a white bath towel and high heels.

When she came out Kimmel asked, “Is today my birthday or something?”

“I was supposed to wear a fancy, sparkly sequined dress… It was very hot and I was ready to rock it out,” Kate said. “The tailor had taken it in. … and I looked like a Vegas stripper. For me, it was not right. I wanted to keep it pure and clean. I’m bringing back the towel.”

The 40-year-old Private Practice star was attending the inaugural The Lexus Style Villa Sports Power of h Gala, which merges golf and entertainment worlds with sustainable living. (The lowercase “h” is used by Lexus to denote its hybrid fuel vehicles.) The entertainment event celebrated the brand’s hybrid philosophy.

Kate Walsh gets caught off guard as a sudden gust of wind blows her skirt up while on the set of her hit ABC drama, Private Practice, on Tuesday in Santa Monica, Calif.

The 40-year-old actress filmed a scene with costar Amy Brenneman when, out of nowhere, she gave paparazzi an upskirt tease. Kate then tamed her skirt by keeping her hands locked behind her back. Later in the day, Taye Diggs, Tim Daly and Paul Adelstein filmed a scene along the ocean where Taye walked a cute Chihuahua.

A Democratic presidential nomination is right around the corner for Barack Obama and Kate is celebrating.

“I think this is a great movement in American history,” Kate tells Us Weekly. “The American people want a change in their government and Barack Obama is the best person to lead and serve and bring about the real changes people want. I am thrilled.”

But it’s clear that sex is still not a topic that it is comfortable for people to engage in in this country. Sadly, I think there’s still a huge lack of education — not just with educators, but also with parents and children. I think innately, it’s just an uncomfortable thing to talk about. Even the most progressive, educated parents have a hard time. There is this sort of biological, psychological emotional difficulty when it comes to really educating and talking frankly about sex with your kids. I think it’s probably just human nature. It’s hard to imagine your kids becoming sexually active and really accepting that and having frank conversations about it.”
