Newlywed Kate Walsh straps on her blue bikini and enjoys an afternoon lounging by the pool with movie exec hubby Alex Young on Friday in Los Angeles. After a bit of fun in the sun, the Private Practice star collected her cat from the front lawn.

Kate, 39, and Alex, 36, tied the knot last Saturday in the town of Ojai north of Los Angeles. Here are some interview excerpts from this week’s OK! magazine (pick it up, they have exclusive pictures from the wedding!):

How does it feel to be married?
Kate: To be Kate Walsh-Young? Suddenly calm. We are so happy and blissed out. You think as a performer you’d be able to imagine, but there’s really nothing like it. It’s profound.

How did the weekend go?
Kate: I’ve had a 10-mile smile. We had an unexpected heat wave and there was a blackout during the reception dinner, but fortunately there was a backup generator! It’s just a lesson in life. You can only plan so much.

Any other last-minute hitches?
Kate: It was so hot in the church, and I felt faint. I was like, I think I need to drink some water. So I walked out to rehydrate. I walked back in, picked up the microphone, and said: “Hey, everybody! I’m back!” Theh gospel choir sang “Hallelujah.”

How did Alex propose?
Alex: We were at this beautiful restaurant called Gary Danko [in San Francisco]. I had the [Neil Lane] ring with me. Butterlies are a big theme in Kate’s life and in our life. We’re sitting there and the appetizer came out in the shape of a butterfly…
Kate: It was kinf of ridiculous, actually. It was a tuna tartare with wasabi antennae!
Alex: I found myself starting to talk about what Kate means to me…
Kate: And then I realized, ‘Oh! This is it!’
Alex: I pulled out the ring, and it was just one of those great moments.
Kate: Before, he asked my brother’s permission. Which was really wonderful.

Kate Walsh is the cover girl for this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly. Inside is the photo spread featuring the Red Swimsuit of Hotness. (Hopefully this white one is in the actual magazine).

On creator Shoda Rhimes calling Walsh her office in February to tell her about Private Practice: ”It was like I was being called to the principal’s office. She told me she wanted to spin off my character, and then I slowly started to leave my body. I was very excited about it, obviously, totally thrilled! But my first thought was ‘Oh, God, what if it doesn’t work?”’

Grey’s Anatomy cum Private Practice star Kate Walsh married movie executive Alex Young on Saturday.

Kate, 39, wore a custom-made Monique Lhuillier wedding gown to the ceremony, where she exchanged vows with Alex, 36. The wedding was held at Ojai Presbyterian Church in the town of Ojai north of Los Angeles and the reception was held at Spanish-style estate Ojai Valley Inn & Spa’s Casa Elar.

Guests included Grey’s co-stars Katherine Heigl (with fiance Josh Kelley), Chandra Wilson, Sara Ramirez (she was in the wedding party) and Justin Chambers (with wife Keisha), as well as the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes. Also in the mix were The O.C.’s Tate Donovan, actress Kate Beckinsale and her director hubby Len Wiseman.

According to People, a gospel choir sang “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts at the beginning of the ceremony.

Kate Walsh and fiance Alex Young get into a little scuffle while out in Los Angeles on Thursday. The pair did end their conversation with a make-up kiss but I hope this isn’t pre-wedding jitters!

Kate recently told Entertainment Tonight about her Bridezilla moment: “I had a fitting a few days ago and who knew someone could get that hysterical about a bra! I said, ‘it’s not the right bra, it’s not the right bra.’ The sad part was there was a mirror there so I had to see my face turn to stone, snakes coming out of my hair. It was bad. I can’t believe I had a meltdown over a bra.”

Kate, 39, and Alex, 36, will reportedly kick off their wedding (a three-day affair) starting with a rehearsal dinner tomorrow night.

Ay, Ay, Ay, I’m your little butterfly…

Kate Walsh and fiance Alex Young spend Sunday afternoon together at Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County’s “Pavilion of Wings”, an exotic butterfly exhibition.

Earlier in the day, the nearly wedded couple picked up a few tennis racquets from a repair shop and had another one of their infamous make-out sessions in the car.

According to People, Kate, 39, and Alex, 36, will marry over Labor Day Weekend at California’s Ojai Valley Inn & Spa. According to their source, wedding planner Jo Gartin will help kick off the three-day event with a rehearsal dinner on Friday and end with a post-wedding brunch on Sunday. The Saturday reception will reportedly be held outdoors at the inn’s Casa Elar, a Spanish-style estate, where the pool will be covered to accommodate some 110 guests.

Private Practice series premiere “In Which We Meet Addison…” airs Wednesday, September 26 @ 9PM ET/PT on ABC.

Producers gave Merrin Dungey the boot and replaced her with Audra McDonald (pictured). It is not clear why Dungey, who played Addison’s best friend Dr. Naomi Bennet, left the series.

“As [creator Shonda Rhimes] has said, Grey’s was like high school,” Kate Walsh recently told TV Guide. “But the group at the Oceanside Wellness Center are like a big, grown-up family. They’ve already been through the wringer together. Well, me, of course. I’m the newbie again, a fish out of water, just like at Seattle Grace.”

Private Practice star Kate Walsh doesn’t have to lift a finger, letting her movers do all the heavy lifting as she moves out of her own Los Angeles home on Tuesday morning. This bride-to-be just can’t stop smiling — even from inside the car!

Kate and movie exec fiance Alex Young have already moved in together at a ‘grand-scale Spanish’ house on Nottingham Avenue in Los Feliz, Los Angeles. The $4.75 million home has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.

Kate, 39, just had her bachelorette party at Tao nightclub in Las Vegas over the weekend.

Private Practice star Kate Walsh celebrates her bachelorette party with former Grey’s Anatomy co-star Sara Ramirez party and co-star Justin Chambers‘ wife Keisha at Tao nightclub inside the Venetian Hotel, Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Sounds like a wedding is in the works and will happen soon!!!! Kate, 39, has been engaged to movie exec Alex Young for about three months now. (Sara looks like she guzzled down one too many! And might I note, Keisha looks slammin’!)

The season 4 premiere of Grey’s Anatomy, episode “A Change Is Gonna Come,” airs September 27 @ 9PM ET/PT on ABC. The series premiere of Private Practice airs the day before — Wednesday, September 26 @ 9PM on ABC.
