Katharine McPhee continues to rock her blonde hair at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York City on Monday (November 9).

The 25-year-old singer recently signed on to the cast of Kaleidoscope, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

Kat will star in a Thanksgiving Day special that will bring together “figure skating champions, recording artists, cancer survivors and health advocates to recognize women and the key role they play in the battle against cancer – as patients, caregivers and advocates.”

She’ll join skaters Scott Hamilton, Kristi Yamaguchi, Nancy Kerrigan and fellow Idol runner-up David Archuleta on the special.

When asked to describe the album, the 25-year-old American Idol alum has been quoted as saying that an “organic,” “edgy,” and more “adult” sound will be prominent on the album.

Popeater asked if she was ready to have kids with husband Nick Cokas yet. Kat responded, “It’s sort of hard to plan… I really want to live out the record. Plus, I really like kids, but when they start crying it really makes me nervous. I don’t think I’m quite there yet.”

The 25-year-old American Idol alum, who worked with stylist Peter Savic, tells People, “My music is a little more edgy so that inspired me to be adventurous. I’ve never dyed my hair before so this was a pretty drastic change. I’ve always been known as a brunette but I’ve been thinking about it for a long time and it kind of just fit with all of the searching with the music and experimenting that I would do the same thing with my look.”

Kat continued, “The look has affected the way I dress, it’s inspired me to be more adventurous with what I decide to wear. It’s silly that something so simple as changing your hair could have such a big effect. I’m just having fun with it. This is a great time for me to do something different. I’m young — I always try to have a good time.”

She spent the day on set filming a scene where co-star Dave Annable looses his boardshorts while Katharine snags ‘em to tease him. Good thing Dave was wearing some skin-colored underwear!

The 24-year-old pop singer and American Idol finalist makes a jump to the big screen again after playing Harmony in the comedy The House Bunny.
