American Idol alum Katharine McPhee is workin’ at the car wash on Tuesday on the Los Angeles set of I Know What Boys Like, in which she plays a pregnant hippie student.

“Today is the first day I’m wearing the prosthetic belly, which wraps all the way around [to] my back, and it’s actually really comfortable,” Kat revealed to Entertainment Tonight. “I’m really enjoying it. It’s hot and sweaty though, but it’s like Method acting.”

“I think it’ll probably hold me off a bit on having a baby,” she adds. “I [do] definitely want to have a baby, and it’s fun to just pretend and look in the mirror.”

Looks like this backbrace-d and beanie-d star has become BFFs with Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee!

All American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter (pictured grabbing his groin) is also featured in this film.

I Know What Boys Like tells the story of a Playboy Bunny (Anna Faris) that has been recently thrown out of the Playboy Mansion and takes the job of house mother at a very nerdy sorority house. The film is set for a 2008 release.

American Idol alum Katharine McPhee pulls at her faux baby bump during a filming break of the I Know What Boys Like on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

This will be McPhee’s studio acting debut for Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison. She will be playing a pregnant hippy in the Fred Wolf-directed comedy.

In the near future, Kat, 23, will also be starring in The Last Caller, a dark romantic-comedy indie.

You will most likely not see it watching her performance because it’s so fast, but watch it anyway. It’s one of her more entertaining performances, especially with the dance sequence in the middle of the performance!

American Idol album Katharine McPhee brought along her “Love Story” music video to TRL on Wednesday. She wore a cute white mini and peep-toe Mary Jane wedges.

Little known fact: The male model in the “Love Story” music video got paid a measly $500. That’s right, 500 bucks! Music videos are pretty low budget these days…

On dating older men (her boyfriend, Broadway actor Nick Cokas, is 42): “When I turned 21, I thought it was a good age to explore. You’re no longer a teenager, so it’s OK [to date older guys]. I gravitated toward them, and I love them. They’re just wiser, and they’re less about themselves and more about you.”

On her new album cover: “People made a big deal out of that. They said, ‘She’s a slut, blah, blah, blah.’ But I’m really not showing that much skin. It’s all suggested.”

On being popular with the fellas:“I was prematurely developed. As a freshman I looked like a junior; I had boobs. Some of the older kids saw me in the yearbook and said I was cute.”

On settling down: “Oh yeah. I want to have, like, 15 babies. I’ve always wanted to be pregnant. One year for Halloween, I decided to be pregnant, so I got this nun costume, and I put a big belly under it. I showed my parents and said I want to go to school as a pregnant nun. My dad sat me down and said, “Katharine, you can’t!”
