The Grey’s Anatomy star is reportedly making a serious effort to quit smoking after seven years.
Katherine’s good friend T.R. Knight, who quit smoking some time ago said, “Of course I support her.” “You have to be ready and find it in yourself,” T.R. told In Touch at a Point Foundation gala last week.
“It’s so stupid,” Heigl has said. “I have to quit the old fashioned way.” “I tried the patch [and] tried gum. I hate the gum. It burns my mouth,” she once said about her previous efforts.

Proceeds from Hot In Hollywood benefit AHF’s (AIDS Healthcare Foundation) HIV Mobile Prevention and Testing Unit, a customized recreational vehicle that travels throughout Los Angeles County to reach underserved populations with HIV/AIDS education, testing, counseling, and treatment referral services.

As reported last month, former Journeyman star Kevin McKidd, 34, will play join Grey’s Anatomy as a doctor who arrives at Seattle Grace after a stint in Iraq.
The Seattle Grace doctors return in a two-hour premiere on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 9PM ET/PT on ABC.

Asked if she’s returning to the show next season, Katherine, 29, told Life & Style, “Of course, absolutely. Those people are like my family.”
“It’s so funny because we have such serious material to perform, and then we spend the whole day joking around.”
