Matthew McConaughey enjoys some father-son bonding with Levi, 9 months, and his dog BJ on Wednesday (May 13) at a beach in Malibu, Calif.

“There will always be a natural attraction that comes at first for most men and women,” says Matthew, 39, revealing the relationship wisdom he will pass on to his son Levi in LA Confidential magazine. “I’d say, don’t complicate it, because it will get complicated on its own. Enjoy trying to figure women out because you’ll do it for the rest of your life. Expect change every time you think you’ve got the answer.” The actor also opens up about the birds-and-bees talk his own father gave him, “If you go in for a kiss, and she hesitates, stop, respect her impulses. Any sort of action you take in intimacy needs to be reciprocated. If a woman hesitates, you stop. After you stop, the woman might say, ‘Let’s go ahead,’ but then you don’t. Don’t be in a rush. That’ll come next time.”

Matthew McConaughey watches a live performance at the Surfrider Art and Music Festival with his girlfriend Camila Alves and 9-month-old son Levi on Sunday (April 26) in Malibu, Calif.

The 39-year-old actor even got up on stage and joined the band during one of the songs.

Matthew’s new movie Ghosts of Girlfriends Past comes out this week. The comedy tells the story of a bachelor who is haunted by the ghosts of his past girlfriends at his younger brother’s wedding.

Matthew McConaughey and girlfriend Camila Alves spend some quality time with their son Levi, who turns 9 months on Tuesday, at a Malibu beach in California on Saturday (April 4).

“Levi is doing well, man, five stamps on the passport,” the 39-year-old actor recently shared on The Rachael Ray Show.

As for the biblical significance of his son’s name, McConaughey shared, “We were talking, thinking about Levi and we hadn’t decided yet and then he was born at 6:22 p.m., which is my favorite verse in the book of Matthew. [Camila and I] looked at each other and were like, okay, this kid is Levi now for sure.”

Matthew McConaughey takes his wife, Brazilian beauty Camila Alves, and his 8-month-old son Levi, for a fun day out on the beach in Malibu, Calif., on Saturday (March 14).

The 39-year-old actor is helping out Bermudian roots-reggae artist Mishka through his record company, j.k. Livin Records. “My one-liner to him is ‘Look, man, I think your music needs to be heard by more ears than it has. I’ve heard it. I love it. Anybody I’ve ever turned on to your music ends up loving it,’” McConaughey tells Rolling Stone.

Matthew McConaughey just updated his MySpace Celebrity, posting pics of himself, longtime love Camila and their son Levi. Here’s what he shared about his latest travels, generously plugging away at his new brand:

“Back on the west coast after some incredible travels… cool inspirations seen and done via the road and had some real just keep livin (jkl) moments along the way…

-Took a 14 day road trip with my buddy Gus down to southern Baja. He and I became great friends on the road 16 years ago and we needed to get back on track with our friendship and do some of that old fashioned phi-loso-phising that only a road trip can render…we needed it, we got it, thanks Gus…j.k. livin

-We broke down in the middle of the desert while on that trip, in a place where we hadn’t seen nor heard another human for three days. I had to jog down a dirt road for a couple of hours in hope of finding a trace of anyone…Well, I finally did, and her name was “Matty“, an 82 year old Mexican woman who loaned me (a complete stranger speaking broken Spanish), her 1981 Isuzu truck with 263,000 miles on it. That truck got us to a place where we could get the gear to fix MY truck and get back on the road…Thanks Matty….just keep livin….Good hearted strangers and trust….cool

-After 4,206 miles of camping across America, I was once again reminded of how good looking this country is…saw family and friends, met strangers, made acquaintances…I was in some predominately “red” states when President-elect Obama was elected. I talked to a bunch of people who had voted for McCain and-check this- unanimously, those same people were genuinely excited and hopeful about Obama being elected…They all felt that the country had spoken in earnest, electing Obama, and they were more than “ready for the ride”, they were ready to get into the action…cool…j.k. livin

- I spent my 39th birthday on the southern rim of the Grand Canyon…almost got “butted” of the edge by a ram and caught some shooting stars…as for the first sight of the GC, mother nature created something that looks so fake, its real….cool

Matthew McConaughey and his longtime love Camila Alves, welcoming their first son Levi Alves McConaughey on July 7th, opens up to OK! Magazine about being parents.

On the delivery of the baby: “We found a great rhythm. Contractions started kicking in. I sat there with her, right between her legs. We got tribal on it, we danced to it! I was DJ-ing this Brazilian music.”

On the entire hospital experience as a proud father: “I have it all chronicled,” he explained. “Becoming a dad is something I’ve dreamed of doing since I was 10. Becoming a father felt very, very natural. We were jamming! She was sweating. No painkiller, let’s go. She just clicked into that gear that only a woman has at a time like this. We’d been up for 40-something hours, and we went from dead tired to a really steadfast, ‘Let’s handle this… let’s stay in the rhythm. Don’t let the contraction be more than you.’”

On finding out the sex of the baby during the pregnancy: “I said, ‘Come here, little man. I saw the pecker and screamed that we’d been right all along about him being a boy. Then I brought him over to [Camila].’

Matthew also took the time to explain how they came up with the name for their baby boy: “Levi was another name for the apostle Matthew in The Bible. They were, in fact, two names for the same person… Our son was born at 6:22 pm, and this particular time represents my favorite verse in the book of Matthew in The Bible: ‘If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.’”

As for the name Alves (Camila’s last name), McConaughey explained, “We wanted to incorporate her family name.”
