Kenny Ortega, director of the High School Musical series of films and This Is It, is attached to direct a movie adaptation of the Broadway musical In The Heights, THR reports.
Joining Kenny is Lin-Manuel Miranda, who composed, starred in and wrote the musical! Lin rapped his acceptance speech for Best Original Score when he won a Tony award in 2008!
In The Heights has been nominated for 13 Tonys total, taking home the coveted award for Best Musical. The story spans over three days in New York City’s Washington Heights and features hip-hop, salsa and soul music.
FYI: HSM alum Corbin Bleu will make his Broadway debut on January 25, 2010 as he takes over the lead role as Usnavi in In The Heights!
In other words, In The Heights is going to be EPIC!!!!
