Madonna throws a pre-adoption party
Earlier this week, Madonna arrived in Malawi with her kids — David, 3, Lourdes, 12, and Rocco, 8.
In a statement from her rep Liz Rosenberg, Madonna confirmed she is trying to adopt a girl named Chifundo “Mercy” James who is about 4 years old.
According to AP, the girl’s 18-year-old mother was unmarried and died soon after she gave birth. Her father is believed to be alive but has little contact with his daughter.
The Material mom also took David (pictured here) to meet his biological father for the first time since he left Malawi in 2006. “Madonna is committed to maintaining an ongoing relationship with David’s Malawian roots,” Madge’s statement continued.
Madonna visits Chkhota Village in Malawi where she has bought land to build part of her Raising Malawi school for girls on Sunday (March 29).
The 50-year-old entertainer is reportedly in Malawi to adopt her second child, Mercy James.

Malawi officials have confirmed that Madonna is adopting 3-year-old Mercy James.
“The adoption is going ahead. It has been at an advanced stage for some time,” said Malawi’s Director of Child Welfare Services, Penstone Kilembe to UsWeekly.
Mercy is from the “Mchinji Home of Hope orphanage. She has no father and mother, they both died…We finished the assessment yesterday in readiness for the courts next week,” said an official at the ministry of Gender and Child Development to Reuters.
Madonna has reportedly filed adoption papers with the Malawi welfare department and will travel to the country this weekend.
Additionally, her adoption case could possibly be heard by a court as soon as this Monday. Rumors have previously circulated that Madonna is looking to adopt a girl from Malawi after finalizing the adoption of David Banda in May of last year. David is now 3 1/2.
Madonna has refuted all allegations that rules were broken for her, and that no adoption laws in Malawai regulate foreign adoption.
Madonna has reportedly decided to dump Jesus Luz after a short time together.
The 50-year-old singer/actress’ decision to end the relationship was finally made after lingerie model Luciana Costa and Jesus spent a romantic weekend together in Brazil, the Daily Star reports. Madonna also broke things off so it wouldn’t affect her chances with adopting another child from Malawi. Madonna recently said said, “Many people, especially our Malawian friends, say that David should have a Malawian brother or sister. It’s something I have been considering, but would only do if I had the support of the Malawian people and government.”
“She was drawn to Jesus. But it was just a bit of fun and she’s enjoyed herself,” a source close to Madonna said. “But she is growing bored of the relationship and her family comes first. He would ruin her chances of adopting again. And the pictures of him with Luciana made her realize that he’ll be better suited to somebody his own age.”
Just two weeks into her sizzling Circus tour, it was revealed that Britney Spears will be performing with Madonna when she returns to the Big Apple on Monday (March 23)
“She’ll be singing with Madonna in New York,” the starlet’s stylist David Alexander spilled to In Touch. “It will be ‘Get Together’ and ‘Trouble.’ So, together the song is called ‘Lose Control.’”
The Material Mom may also pop in for one of Britney’s LA shows on April 16 or 17. “It’s supposed to be a surprise!” added David.
Madonna attended Britney’s March 11 gig in New York’s Nassau Coliseum. And back in November, Britney performed with Madonna during her Sticky and Sweet Tour at LA’s Dodger Stadium.
