Jessica Alba: GQ Cover Girl Tue, 15 May 2007
Jessica Alba storms onto the June 2007 cover of GQ magazine. With her six movies coming out this year, it’s not wonder Hollywood’s “It” Girl is garnering so much attention.
But will all of this work help movie execs, as Alba wryly puts it, in “getting past my hotness?”
- On men and their relentless eyeballing: “When you see the camera right here, you’re like, ‘Uh, that’s my crotch… I’m going to stand over here.’ You know? Cameramen are just horny sometimes.”
- On her self-proclaimed hotness closing a few doors: “Right now, I’m just exploring what my contribution to this business is—other than wearing a bikini and getting caught by the paparazzi.”
- On being clumsy: “I fell so many times on The Eye, the crew there would get embarrassed for me. When I first met [co-star] Alessandro [Nivola], I fell down the stairs. And then on Fantastic Four, I would always twist my ankle and fall down completely. It’s just frustrating, always hurting yourself. For Dark Angel, Jim Cameron actually made me do gymnastics and dance training so I could be more coordinated.”

Jessica Biel is a Modern Bombshell Fri, 04 May 2007
Jessica Biel takes is the new cover girl in the Elle Magazine June 2007 issue, out in NY/LA on May 8.
The 25-year-old bona fide actress dishes on being ‘buff’ and posing topless:
On being famous: “I can’t even go to the dry cleaner by myself anymore. You’re seen in public with anybody that you might not even know and you’re speculated about. It makes everything hard because you can’t even go to pick up a prescription without somebody trying to snap a photo of what you have in your Long Drugs bag. Thank goodness I’m a nice person.”
On still struggling to get parts she wants: “Parts that I want aren’t going to me. Like The Other Boleyn Girl with Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman. I don’t want to say there’s nothing I love that I can’t have. But there’s still the occasional script that the director doesn’t want to see you for. They want that top tier of girls.”
On having “Her Moment’: “The scary thing is that if it’s ‘your moment,’ that eventually disappears. I think about reaching for ‘the moment,’ but never really achieving it. That way I’m always striving.”
On being named ‘Sexiest Woman Alive’ by Esquire magazine: “I thought the Esquire cover was going to be really positive for my career. But it wasn’t, really. [One director told me] ‘I’m not looking for the sexiest woman; I’m looking for the girl next door.’”
On celebrating her twenty-fifth birthday in March 2007: Someone said, ‘You have five years till 30.’ I started to think, Wow over the next five years my life could really change personally.”
On being considered ‘buff’: “This is the thinnest and the least muscular I’ve been in a long time. I’m so lean and feminine.”
On posing topless for Gear Magazine at 17: “I was all over the place. I was being a rebellious teenager.”
Orlando Bloom Sits Under a Tree, Studies His Navel Mon, 16 April 2007
Orlando Bloom gives a funny interview in the Details May 2007 issue, hitting newsstands tomorrow, April 17.
He touches on his faith in Buddhism saying, “The philosophy that I’ve embraced isn’t about sitting under a tree and studying my navel, it’s about studying what is going on in my daily life and using that as fuel to go and live a bigger life. When your girlfriend dumps you, when the bill comes through the door, and your mom calls you and tells you she can’t handle the stuff in her life—that’s hell, but that’s just one world. If you are aware of what is going on, then you can grow and use that hunger, that fear.”
Orlando, 30, currently describes himself as “mildly dyslexic” and describes the rough time he had with the condition growing up. “School was a challenge, put it that way,” he said.

Orlando Bloom Goes Green Tue, 10 April 2007
Budding environmentalist Orlando Bloom wears his true colors as this month’s Elle Man in Elle Magazine’s May 2007 “Green Issue.” Here are the highlights of Orly’s interview:
On his career: “I’m not doing any more trilogies….I don’t think there is anyone who would not have done the movies I did. But going back-to-back without time to digest the process and immerse yourself in the next [was] a challenge.”
On spending three weeks sailing in Antarctica: “It was the real pirate ship. The boat was an old Norwegian ice breaker now used for scientific research. I slept in a bunk and did the washing up and shared a toilet with, like, 27 other guys. It was an amazing experience.”
On being considered a sex symbol: “A friend explained it to me in a way that helped. He said there’s a window in every girl’s life where they kind of attach to somebody for a month. And if you’re that person for a month, then just enjoy it. And I was like, ‘Okay, cool!’”
On his career: “My profile went so high so fast that everything I was doing had much more attention on it than it would have otherwise. So there’s much more focus on the mistakes that everyone makes as they go through their career.”
On dating in Hollywood: “You can’t date if you’re famous. […] It’s like you travel so much and it feels like the options are endless. People think getting a new partner is like getting a new car.”
On maintaining privacy as an actor: “I was talking to Johnny [Depp] on the set one time. I said, ‘Can you believe they pay you this much money to do a job you love?’ And he said, ‘Privacy becomes really expensive.’ It’s true.”

Leonardo DiCaprio is Icy Hot Mon, 02 April 2007
Coverboys Leonardo DiCaprio and Knut the polar bear look icy hot on the April 2007 Green Issue of Vanity Fair. Inside is a sneak peek of 11th Hour, Leo’s documentary that examines the state of the global environment. Here’s the dish from V.F.:
While the Bush administration hems and haws over adding polar bears to the endangered-species list, the world celebrates the birth of Knut, the darling cub born in captivity at the Berlin Zoo. Now three and a half months old, little Knut has become a powerful (if not controversial) symbol of what this planet has to lose to global warming. Such ecological concerns are familiar to actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio, so it seemed natural to pair these two handsome boys on Annie Leibovitz’s cover for this year’s Green Issue. In these behind-the-scenes images, Leibovitz and V.F. senior photography producer Kathryn MacLeod capture Knut at home in Berlin, and DiCaprio at the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, in southeast Iceland. We brought them together the only way we could, in a photomontage.
Check out the video footage of Knut and more outtakes here.

The Rise & Shine of Halle Berry Fri, 23 March 2007
Halle Berry looks frakkin’ gorgeous in the April 2007 issue of InStyle!!
Here are some highlights from Halle’s interview with InStyle:
- On keeping a pair of Mickey Mouse blue jeans that she’s had since she was 15: “It’s my annual test — I try them on once a year, and if I can still fit into them, then all is good in the world!” (JJ Note: She still fits them. That is INSANE!)
- On her first impressions of her current squeeze, male model Gabriel Aubry: “After my last relationship broke up I was feeling like, well, it wasn’t that I didn’t want to be in a relationship. it’s just that I thought it would be OK to be on my own. But he was disarmingly sweet and caring and different. In the past I’ve been attracted to (gesturing) big personalities. Gabriel was shy. He hardly talked to me at first. I had to work at this a little. It wasn’t a slam dunk; it wasn’t the guy just showering affection on me. It made it more interesting. We were equally matched — put it that way.”
- On Gabriel’s fashion sense: “He has certainly raised the bar. (laughs) He’s a fashionista. (looks at Gabriel’s watch that she’s wearing) It feels nice knowing it’s his. Now if he wears my stuff we’ve got a problem!”
- On her and Gabriel’s shared interest of golf: “I’m not good at it. And it eats at me that I can’t master it, can’t get my brain around it. I even had lessons with David Leadbetter, one of the best instructors in the world. I just want to be a decent golfer and have the guys be happy that I’m with them, not like ‘Oh, damn, here comes Halle.’ “
- On how she’s going to raise her kids in the future: I definitely want children. Very much. I want my kids to realize it’s only through hard work that any success or real joy comes. It’s not about money; it’s the intangible rewards — having integrity and doing what you say you’re going to do. My mom is that way.”
- On her last meal: French toast with more syrip than anybody should, a bowl of pasta and give orders of bananas Foster.” (As a diabetic, Halle could not eat this meal in real life.)
Run out and buy those Gublo pumps. Those babies are hot.
