Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard arrive together at the 2010 Oscars held at Kodak Theatre on Sunday (March 7) in Hollywood.

The 32-year-old actress (in Dries Van Noten) received her first Oscar nomination for her role in Crazy Heart, playing a single mom who falls for an alcoholic country star. Asked if she expected all of the attention from this movie, she said, “You know, when I first read it, I knew somehow that this was something that I wanted to play, and usually when I have that feeling, it’s usually that I’m right — I needed to do that movie.”

“And this movie had a star over it. And if I think about what I aspire to, and what I like in movies, it’s to be in a movie like this,” Maggie told AMCtv.

Maggie Gyllenhaal steps out with her adorable 3-year-old daughter Ramona as the two run errands on Sunday (February 28) near their home in Brooklyn, New York.

Maggie’s husband, Peter Sarsgaard, was also spotted going into their place.

The Crazy Heart Oscar nominee recently told THR that she’s so excited for the Oscars! “I’m looking forward to doing the whole thing, all the parties,” she said. “I know it’s crazy, but why not?”

As for who Maggie’s dying to meet, she said she’s hoping to run into Mo’Nique!

Maggie Gyllenhaal braves the rain in Los Angeles on Tuesday (January 19) by standing under a huge umbrella.

The 32-year-old actress recently told USA Today that she felt she had to take the part of Jean in Crazy Heart after taking time off to raise her daughter Ramona, 3.

“When I got this script, I was in this state of wanting something for me, selfishly, after having sacrificed a lot of things,” Maggie said.

“I felt really hungry - I felt like I’d spent two years mostly focused on my daughter, which was amazing. It changed everything in my life. And then I got this surge of really strong desire to work and do something for me.”

Maggie shared, “Being a mother forces me to be so responsible. I’m very protective, and I try to keep (Ramona) out of this Hollywood stuff. But I make mistakes. I have that tug of wanting things that feel good to me and trying to figure out in what ways I have to sacrifice and what ways she has to sacrifice. I haven’t been perfect at that.”

The ceremony is hosted by British comedian Ricky Gervais and airs on Sunday (January 17) @ 8PM ET/PT, live on NBC.

THR reports Sarsgaard will play “Dr. Hector Hammond, the pathologist son of a senator who is seen as a disappointment in his father’s eyes. He becomes infused with psychic powers when he discovers a meteor.”

Ryan Reynolds is set to play Green Lantern/Hal Jordan and Blake Lively as Hal’s love interest, Carol Ferris.
