Latino lovers Eva Longoria and Mario Lopez announce the 2007 ALMA Award Nominations on Monday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Eva, 32, returns as host and producer for the The ALMA (American Latino Media Arts) Awards, which recognize and celebrate Latino artistic achievement in American film, television and music.

“It is an honor to return as host of the ALMA Awards and to also be working with NCLR to contribute creatively to the production of the show,” said Eva.

“This year we are going to have an action packed telecast filled with surprises, as we celebrate the achievements of the Latino community.”

The 2007 ALMA Awards will tape on Friday, June 1 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and air on June 5 on ABC

In light of the awards season (the Oscars are this weekend), General Motors threw its annual GM TEN event last night — a charity-driven celebrity couture fashion show. It’s where fashion, cars, and Hollywood join forces for one special night.

With 2007 marking the 6th annual, this year’s runway had an all-star lineup including Katherine Heigl, Denise Richards, Jennifer Hudson, Sarah Wayne Callies, Mary J. Blige, Christina Milian, Leah Rimini, Roselyn Sanchez, Emmy Rossum, Shane West, Mario Lopez, David Boreanaz, Tyrese Gibson, Pete Wentz, Mekhi Phifer, Donald Faison, and of course, the Heroes cast — Hayden Panettiere, Milo Ventimiglia, Masi Oka, and Jack Coleman.

Sitting front row: Penelope Cruz (nice Dr. Evil pose), Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Grey’s Anatomy’s Eric Dane and wife Rebecca Gayheart, and America’s Next Top Model’s Eva Pigford sitting next to Russell Simmons.

Who’s wearing who? Katherine Heigl, Denise Richards, and Shane West in Dolce & Gabbana, Jennifer Hudson in Roberto Cavalli, Hayden Panettiere in Louis Becaria, and Mary J. Blige in Collette Dinnigan.

The event was held on Tuesday night at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.

Here are some newsbites for this Friday morning:

• Following in the footsteps of Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath, Mario Lopez will co-anchor Extra on weekends. The Dancing With the Stars finalist will also be a weekday correspondent on the show. His debut is Tuesday.
• Nearly half of the short films being screened at this month’s Sundance Film Festival will be available for purchase at Apple’s iTunes store under a deal announced Friday. Filmmakers will get the bulk of the $1.99 download price, with Apple, the Sundance Institute and cable television’s Sundance Channel sharing the remainder.
• Previously unseen footage recorded by George Clooney and his father while traveling to the border of the Darfur region of Sudan will be aired Monday. A Journey to Darfur will be broadcast on AmericanLife TV Network.
• Macy Gray was almost arrested Wednesday night in Barbados after cursing in public, which is against the law on the island. Macy, while performing at the Barbados Jazz Festival, went into a tirade about the men in her life that included much swearing. After police confronted her, Macy apologized to the media for her behavior.
