Mark Wahlberg in ‘The Brazilian Job’

Shooter stud Mark Wahlberg is joined by director Antoine Fuqua and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura during the photocall for their new action film on Tuesday at Hotel Adlon in Berlin, Germany.

Wahlberg joked to UK’s Teletext about there being a Departed 2: “Until I’m actually on the set it’s not happening. It’s about as confirmed as the Italian Job sequel, The Brazilian Job. Until we can make it better than the first one it’s not worth discussing.”

“I’ve never done a sequel before, there’s only a couple I can think of that were as good as the first ones - The Godfather.”

Mark Wahlberg is HAPPENING

Mark Wahlberg looks sharp and dapper attending the UK premiere of Shooter on Thursday at the Odeon West End Cinema in London.

Wahlberg, 35, recently signed on with M. Night Shyamalan’s new eco-thriller The Happening. The rapper-turned-underwear-model-turned-actor will play a man who takes his family on the run when a cataclysmic natural crisis threatens to end the world.

Said Shyamalan of Wahlberg: “Mark has a unique blend of charisma, humanity, authenticity and skillfulness as an actor, all of which coalesced at this moment in his career, making him the perfect person to take on the role of Eliot Moore, the science teacher at the center of this event.”

The Happening is set for a Friday the 13th release in 2008. Dun dun dun. Shooting is slated to begin in August in Philadelphia.

Shyamalan’s body of work includes The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village, Lady in the Water.
