Last week at the Burberry event, the 22-year-old Olsen twin told me that even though she’s a celebrity, the paparazzi don’t have the right to invade her personal space.

“That’s a lame excuse,” MK told JustJared.com. “I’ve been in the business since I was 6-months-old. I’m 5-feet tall, it’s invasive. Paparazzi jump my fence [in Los Angeles] and it’s scary!”

She even shared a story about being driven off the highway by paparazzi in L.A. “It was never written about,” MK confessed. “But it’s dangerous when cars are following you so closely!”

MK also told me that prefers New York over L.A. She said, “I made the switch emotionally to NYC a year ago. I just love it here better. I’ve been going back and forth every weekend, though.”

Earlier this week, a glamorous Mary-Kate Olsen met up with her boyfriend Nate Lowman at Greenhouse, an eco-friendly New York nightclub. “She was dancing all night,” a club source told People.

Mary-Kate helped host Ed Westwick honor Burberry Creative Director Christopher Bailey at the Barneys store on Monday night and also showed off a new look at The Metropolitan Opera’s 125th Anniversary Gala last week.

Mary-Kate Olsen helped host Ed Westwick honor Burberry Creative Director Christopher Bailey at the Barneys store in New York City on Monday night (March 17).

I met the 22-year-old Olsen twin at the event, where her artist/DJ boyfriend Nate Lowman provided the music (pictured here in the red plaid).

MK told me all about the night before at the Metropolitan Opera Gala. “It was my first time,” MK shared. “I can’t choose a favorite, I loved every act! I need to go to opera more often now.”

MK mentioned that the seats were so squished that even Kanye West looked like he was crawled up in a fetal position.

When asked if she gets starstruck by celebs, MK told me that she really wanted to meet Woody Allen at the Met event. “But by the time I got balls to meet him, he had left!” she shared.

Glamorous new look!

Mary-Kate Olsen shows off a big new ‘do at The Metropolitan Opera’s 125th Anniversary Gala at Lincoln Center’s Metropolitan Opera House on Sunday (March 15) in New York City.

With the use of projections, and scenic and costumes, the event featured Met stars performing in recreations of classic productions and was conducted by the Met’s longtime music director, James Levine.

Mary-Kate Olsen strikes an artistic pose in the March 2009 issue of Interview Magazine. It’s a great feature, so here are some snippets:

I know you also have a place in L.A. and you go back and forth a lot, but do you think you’ve made New York your place? I’m definitely bicoastal, but I have to say, it’s easier to live in New York than in L.A. I feel like people respect other people’s space a bit more here. Everyone has the right to that freedom, right? Everyone has that right. It’s freezing in New York right now. In L.A., it’s sunny. But I would choose freezing over being followed.

You’re a renter, right? Yeah, I rent. It’s hard for me to figure out where I want to be. But it’s definitely in New York. I feel like New York throws different challenges at you and you can be more creative.

I hear that your clothing lines, The Row and Elizabeth & James, are breaking into menswear. Was that a natural progression? I think that was our strategy from the beginning. We also have shoes coming out-they’re going to be beautiful. Everything’s looking pretty solid.

One half of the Olsen Twins continues to sport some unusual fashion trends while out and about Los Angeles on Saturday.

Mary-Kate, 22, was seen petting a friend’s dog while wearing a gray hobo chic (or un-chic?) robe. After eating at Cafe Vida in the Pacific Palisades, she hopped into her waiting car. But not before covering her face!

Later in the evening, MK was seen getting into the festive spirit with a pair of plastic yellow Santa sunglasses. She enjoyed a festive night out with friends at the Bardot lounge in West Hollywood.

Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen have a book signing session for their new book, “Influence,” on Wednesday at Borders books store in Westwood, Calif.

PETA protesters held signs outside the bookstore, calling the Ashley and Mary-Kate “Fur Hags From Hell,” and “Trashley Olsen Fur Tramps.”

Their book “Influence,” features their interviews with Von Furstenberg, Karl Lagerfeld, Francisco Costa, Richard Prince and Lauren Hutton. In each interview, the Olsen twins explore what inspires the interviewee and the interviewee, in turn, explains how they became themselves.
