The Bourne Ultimatum star recently played in the “Ante Up for Africa” charity event, a $5000 buy-in event. The poker fun night was held at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, where he got knocked out during the first five minutes of the game. At least all the money went to charity!

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck puts all their chips in for the “Ante Up for Africa” celebrity poker tournament during the World Series of Poker at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday.

Proceeds from the event raised support for the Enough Project and the International Rescue Committee, benefiting survivors of the crisis in Darfur, Sudan.

Damon, 36, was knocked out within the first five minutes of the tournament. What (bad) luck!

“I’m here to try and raise money and awareness for the tragedies taking place,” he said. “I really hope it becomes an annual event. I hope it does and I hope it doesn’t. I hope we can solve this issue and refocus the efforts on something else in Africa.”

Affleck, 34, expressed how he doesn’t play much poker anymore because of his family. “I’ve got a kid [daughter Violet, 2] and I’m directing movies,” he said. “I have hardly any time now. Poker takes a lot of time if you want to stay good. I don’t want to suck. I was good. I’m still good. Family is better though.”

As of Monday, both of their families were still on vacation in Hawaii.

Jennifer Garner shares a hearty laugh with actor pal Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso while vacationing together in Hawaii on Monday. Both families have been in living it up in Hawaii for the past 3 1/2 weeks. If only everybody could take that kind of time off to spend with their families!

Garner’s hubby Ben Affleck and their 19-month-old daughter Violet were also around for the fun. But it looks like only the older folk got to enjoy the a ride on the beach catamaran, including Damon’s 9-year-old daughter Alexia.

It was also just reported that BFFs Affleck and Damon are returning to screenwriting! (They received Oscars in 1998 for their Good Will Hunting screenplay.)

“Ben and Matt keep taking breaks to go surfing and hang out with their families,” an insider tells Us Weekly. “But for the most part, they’ve been writing together on this trip.”

“That’s their plan,” Damon’s rep confirmed to the Daily News. “Whether or not they are doing it right now, I don’t know.”

The childhood pals practiced their surfing skills on shore before heading out to the water.

Ben, 34, and Matt, 36, have been in Hawaii with their families this past week on a week-long getaway. They’ve been picnic-ing, surfing, paddle boarding, and wading in the water with their daughters.

Jennifer Garner and Matt Damon’s wife, Luciana Barroso take their daughters to the local beach in Hawaii on Tuesday for some early morning swimming.

Jen looks like she’s lost all of her baby weight, sporting short shorts and baring her belly! She brought along 18-month-old daughter Violet.
