We Are Marshall Synopsis :: The story, of course, is about the emotional impact of the November 14, 1970, plane crash near Tri-State Airport that killed all 75 aboard a chartered jet and the resurgence of Marshall’s football program. The crash killed nearly the entire Marshall football team and coaching staff, supporters from the community and the flight crew.

Huntington, West Virginia :: Production of 1970s-set biopic We Are Marshall hit Marshall University’s campus this past Tuesday, as filming was under way at the Walter "Lefty" Rollins Field and the Campus Christian Center.  Above are actors Matthew Fox, 39, and Matthew McConaughey, 36, decked out in their 1970s finest, including loud plaid jackets and wide ties. Matthew McConaughey will star as Coach Jack Lengyel of the Young Thundering Herd football team for four years following the 1970 plane crash that killed 75 people.
