• Ricky Martin defended Madonna’s adoption of a 1-year-old Malawian boy, calling her an “exemplary” mother, and said he, too, would like to adopt. Ricky said: “The love she gives her kids is a dream, and I know that her heart is big enough to adopt not just one child but to adopt 20.”
• Former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham called on the Bahamian government Wednesday to investigate whether Anna Nicole Smith has legal residency status in the country and said Anna “is not a fit and proper person to become a permanent resident of the Bahamas.” “Her general character and reputation don’t commend her for such status.” Ingraham added.

• Lindsay Lohan will reportedly soon move out of L.A.’s Chateau Marmont — where she’s been living for over a year — and into a $2.85 million pad in the Sierra towers. Apparently the Marmont pressured Lindsay to leave because her late-night partying was disruptive.
• George Clooney tactfully shrugged off suggestions that he might run for office Monday, even though fans have started calling for the liberal-minded activist to run for President in 2008. Clooney was on hand for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s signing of legislation aimed at helping to stop violence in Darfur.

• Dustin Diamond, aka Screech from the TV show "Saved by the Bell," told a Tampa radio station that a woman tried to mug him in his hotel in Omaha, Neb. on Monday.

• Helena Bonham Carter, an Oscar nominee for The Wings of the Dove, who most recently starred in the hit film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, has joined the all-star cast of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.  Bonham Carter will play Bellatrix Lestrange, Sirius Black’s cousin and a Death Eater, who is one of Lord Voldemort’s followers.
