Michael Phelps helps launch ‘EA Sports Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09′ at the Strata Metronome in New York City on Wednesday.

The 8-time Olympic gold medalist will host the 34th season premiere of NBC’s SNL on Sept. 13. Joining the 23-year-old athlete as musical guest will be rapper Lil Wayne.

Phelps will also join the likes of Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and many others, as presenters at the Sept. 7 VMAs telecast from Los Angeles.

Beijing Games hero Michael Phelps will host the upcoming season premiere of Saturday Night Live!

In front of a live audience, the 23-year-old super swimmer will help kick off the 34th season of the long-running NBC comedy show. The SNL season premiere kicks off four live shows in a row.

The musical guest for the night will be hip-hop superstar Lil Wayne. The season premiere of Saturday Night Live will air on Sept 13. @ 11:30PM ET/PT on NBC.

Phelps will also be dropping by The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday, Sept. 8.

Australian Olympic swimmer Stephanie Rice is presented with commemorative underwear upon her return to Sydney, Australia on Tuesday.

Rice, 20, is rumored to be dating US golden boy Michael Phelps. When asked about the rumored romance and alleged kiss she and Phelps shared together she said, “No, it was just really great to meet him … and people that you usually see on TV, like [Rafael] Nadal and [Roger] Federer. To me Michael Phelps is a huge inspiration and someone I really look up to.”

Rice received her commemorative underwear along with her former boyfriend, Eamon Sullivan. The couple broke up just before the Beijing Olympics. Sullivan won silver and a bronze but claimed a world record in 100m freestyle heats while Rice collected three gold in three events.

Phelps, 23, also plans on writing a book telling the story behind the winning of his eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympic games. “Built To Succeed”, due out in December, will cover his philosophy on training and competition, as well as his life being raised by a single mother and coping with an attention-deficit disorder.

”[There will be] no Wheaties box this time around; it’s going to be Kellogg’s,” Phelps‘ longtime agent Peter Carlisle revealed to Access Hollywood.

No Wheaties box but Phelps, who scored a record-breaking eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics, will appear on special edition cereal boxes this fall for both Kellogg’s Corn Flakes and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes.

Michael Phelps is interviewed by Matt Lauer on the NBC Today Show set after after winning eight gold medals at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on Tuesday in Beijing, China.

“I’m just exhausted,” Phelps told Lauer from the Today set in Beijing. “I feel like I haven’t stopped moving for 10 days straight — but it’s been fun, this is an experience I’ve always dreamed of.”

The 23-year-old Olympian talked about the 100m butterfly race where he won by 1/100th of a second. “I had no idea where we were — I mean, I knew we were all together,” Phelps said. “I didn’t know if I was ahead, behind, whatever, and about 15-20 meters out, I was focused on hitting the wall perfectly, trying to have a good last stroke, and I when I took that last stroke I thought that cost me the race.”

But in the end, Phelps said, “It was the perfect finish for a close race, and definitely does not get any better than that.”

Swimming champion Michael Phelps flaunts his record-breaking eight Olympic gold medals on the latest cover of Sports Illustrated (Aug. 25, 2008 issue). The photo was inspired by Mark Spitz, the former Olympic swimming champ who showed off the seven golds he won at the 1972 Munich Games.

“What is the value of eight golds in Beijing before a prime-time audience in the U.S?” his agent Peter Carlisle asked. “I’d say $100 million over the course of his lifetime.”

That’s a whole lotta cash but Phelps still intends on competing at the 2012 London Olympics, where he hopes to add to his 14 Olympic gold medals (he won six in 2004’s Athens). “There are some times I still want to hit before I retire,” he said. “And I want to try some new events. That’s what’s keeping me going.”

And next week, Phelps will be traveling to London next week rather than stay in Beijing for the closing ceremonies. “I am going to London to do the handover for the next Olympics,” he said. “And hopefully prepare myself the way I did for these Games and be ready to compete in London.”
