Natalie Portman dons a blue Ferragamo coat with wide sleeves as she leaves the Hotel Intercontinental to promote her movie Love and Other Impossible Pursuits during the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival on Wednesday (September 16) in Toronto, Canada.

Last year, the 28-year-old actress replaced Jennifer Lopez last minute for the film and even became an executive producer for the movie.

The switch became an ongoing joke on the set as she worked with writer-director Don Roos. “It was kind of awesome because all through filming Don would be like: ‘J. Lo would’ve done that much, much better,”‘ said Natalie.

Natalie Portman just purchased this “rustic castle-like” historic estate in an exclusive, secluded enclave of LA, reports In Touch. “Natalie wanted a property that had character and integrity, something that was special,” says Richard Stanley, a Coldwell Banker real estate agent in LA who specializes in architectural and historic properties.

“This house is perfect for her,” he says of the gorgeous 1930s-era home that the 28-year-old actress paid more than $3 million for. “It’s a beautiful home and truly is something special. It’s the trophy home of the neighborhood.”

It has four bedrooms and a private courtyard. It also includes two guest houses, perfect for visiting friends from back East, as well as her parents — her father, Avner, a fertility doctor, and her mother (and former agent), Shelley, to whom she credits much of her success. “If my career stops, if I do badly in a role or if one of my movies is a total failure, I know I’ll still have my parents. It helps me not to be afraid and to take risks,” Natalie says.

Although the home is located in a gated community of less than 100 residences, Natalie’s decision to leave her family, sell her trendy Manhattan condo (it fetched nearly $7 million last November) and move to LA surprised her friends. But for the actress and Harvard grad, the timing is perfect, as she’s now ready to take on Hollywood. She’s started a filmmaker-friendly web site, makingof.com, and has launched an LA-based production company named after her dog, Handsomecharlie Films. Plus, she’s set to play the female lead in Thor.

JG: What’s your favorite food?

NP: Well, I don’t think you can really improve upon Carvel ice cream cake.

JG: I’m more Baskin-Robbins style myself.

NP: Oh really? I am so Carvel. Did I just bring us back to 1985 Long Island?

JG: What song best describes your current state?

NP: My current state . . . I’m trying to think of a song that feels like sleepwalking. [laughs] I don’t know. I’ve mostly been listening to dirty rap lately. That’s sort of my scene.

JG: Your affection for dirty rap is something that people really don’t know about you, which I think is fascinating. You do incredible things for the world, and then you listen to just completely obscene hip-hop music.

NP: Really, really obscene hip-hop. I love it so much. It makes me laugh and then it makes me want to dance. Those are like my two favorite things, so combined . . . I’ve been listening a lot lately to “Wait (The Whisper Song)” by the Ying Yang Twins, where the lyrics are like, “Wait ’til you see my d—”—which is just amazing because it’s whispered. [whispers] “Wait ’til you see my d— . . . ” [laughs] Crazy. So I just listen to it like I’m a five-year-old, like, “Oh my god! I can’t believe he just said that!”

JG: It’s interesting that you think the lyric “Wait ’til you see my d—” describes your current state. I think people are learning more about you right now then they ever have in an interview. I’m proud of that.

Natalie Portman is not only book smart off-camera (she went to Harvard), Variety reports she’ll be taking it to a whole new level.

The 28-year-old actress will be producing a comedy called Booksmart, which will revolve around two overachieving high school seniors who realize the only thing they haven’t accomplished is having boyfriends — and each resolves to find one by prom.

“Sarah and Emily create funny, smart, unselfconsciously strong female characters,” Natalie has sad. “When I read Booksmart, it was as though the script we always talk about wanting to find for our company suddenly materialized.”

Natalie Portman has been cast as the female lead in Thor, Marvel Studios’s live-action film due out in theaters on May 20, 2011.

According to THR, the 28-year-old actress has been cast to star as Jane Foster, who in early comic book lore was a nurse who became Thor’s first love.

Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth has already been chosen to play thunder god Thor. Tom Hiddleston is set to play Loki, the god of mischief.

Natalie Portman walks out of Nobu Berkeley restaurant after having dinner in London on Monday (July 6).

The 28-year-old actress has been in Northern Ireland working on her next film Your Highness.

The comedy, which costars Spiderman’s James Franco and Land of the Lost’s Danny McBride, is about two spoiled and arrogant princes in a medieval fantasy setting.

Recently, Confessions of a Shopaholic star Isla Fisher has been in talks to appear in the film.

Natalie Portman covers her face as she makes her way to the ArcLight garage in Los Angeles on Tuesday (June 23).

The 28-year-old Jerusalem-born actress has reportedly joined Darren Aronofsky’s (Requiem for a Dream/The Wrestler) upcoming film, Black Swan.

The plot revolves around a ballerina (presumably Nat), who competes against her rival, with tension mounting before their big performances. It’s a mystery, however, whether the rival is real or if the dancer is delusional.
