Natalie Portman films scenes alongside a Hasidic Jew for the new anthology film, New York, I Love You, at The Brooklyn Bridge in New York City on Wednesday.

No word yet on how closeley Natalie will be working again with Scarlett Johansson (they were most recently costars in The Other Boleyn Girl) on this film. Scarlett was, however, most recently in Brooklyn’s Coney Island filming New York, I Love You as a director.

Natalie reportedly plays the role of a Jewish bride. She joins other established actors such as Elijah Wood, Nick Nolte and Kevin Bacon in a set of several love stories set in NYC.

Natalie Portman tops Elle Magazine’s April 2008 “Intelligent Women Issue”. Here’s what she had to share:

On a party she went to in Hollywood the night before the interview. “They had a psychic, and he told me my whole life will change when I’m 34 and that I should stay away from water.”

On growing up in Jericho, Long Island: “[I was] different from the other kids: I was more ambitious. I knew what I liked and what I wanted, and I worked really hard to get it.”

On a few of her political stances: “A lot of the stuff people say about her, I hear it and my stomach falls because it’s so sexist. You ask people why they don’t like her and it’s because her husband cheated on her! That was obviously not her choice. She’s so much more polished and experienced than anyone else. Last night, a friend, a social worker in L.A. who works with underprivileged kids, was saying how these girls who have never been interested in politics before are so excited that a woman might be president. I mean, look how many women are in government…Hillary’s one of, what, [a handful of] female senators?… I also like Obama. I even like McCain. I disagree with his war stance—which is a really big deal—but I think he’s a very moral person. I met him and Hillary on the same day, actually, when I went to Washington with Finca [a nonprofit that gives loans to businesswomen in developing countries]. Hillary was by far the smartest person I met that day. Just totally focused, and knew more about the issues than anyone else, and was so able to go from one thing to the other.”

Natalie Portman braves the chilly New York City temperatures on Saturday, strolling around Greenwich Village with a new mystery male.

Earlier this week, Nat made a guest appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman (watch here) and Late Night with Conan O’Brien (watch here).

According to box office estimates, her latest period drama, The Other Boleyn Girl, opened in third place this past Friday, pulling in $2.8 million.

Semi-Pro (Will Ferrell) opened in the top spot with $5.5 million, followed by Vantage Point (Matthew Fox, Dennis Quaid) with $3.7 million. More Here! »

Natalie Portman and Pharrell arrive at The Late Show with David Letterman at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City on Thursday.

Nat, 26, is reportedly starring in the next Mira Nair film entitled Kosher Vegetarian. Irrfan Khan will be cast along with Natalie in a love story between a Gujarati man and a Jewish girl.

Irrfan is very excited about the new project saying, “I’ve heard Natalie is my co-star in the film. I find the project immensely exciting because it is Mira’s film. Mira is a majestic multi-tasker. I love her spirit. It’s contagious. After The Namesake, I was sure we would do something special again.”

(Yes, I’m looking at you, Dina Lohan. And Lynne Spears, too.) Portman’s mother, Shelley Stevens, has served as her agent, and the array of Portman’s film and stage work shows that her mother isn’t frightened by controversy and that she also steers clear of projects that reek of pointless commerciality. Every young actress should have such a guiding influence in her corner.”
