Neil Patrick Harris: Emmys Ratings Bounce Back!

Host Neil Patrick Harris keeps close to longtime love David Burtka held at the 2009 Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday (September 20).

The Emmy Awards averaged 13.3 million total viewers, up 1.1 million versus last year’s ratings (the least-watched Emmys ever). The LA Times even said the ceremony “should serve as a playbook for all award shows to come.” Seems like CBS will be asking NPH to host once more!

FYI: NPH is wearing Dolce&Gabbana suits in all the pics.

Neil Patrick Harris: Happy To Host Emmys

How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris couldn’t be happier to host the 61st Annual Emmy Awards, set to air Sept. 20 on CBS.

The 36-year-old actor said in a statemtn, “After having had such a hoot hosting the Tonys, I was thrilled to get the call about the Primetime Emmys. I’m looking forward to the challenge of the show — adding my own voice to it, while honoring the nominees and the entire year in television. But which voice to choose? I’m torn between gangsta, foppish Brit, and robot. Really proud of my robot. We’ll see what happens on the night.”

Neil Patrick Harris Not Expecting Baby

A baby is not on the way for Neil Patrick Harris and his longtime love David Burtka.

A source had told Star, “Neil and David were so relieved and excited once they were approved [for the adoption process]. Now they have so many surrogate profiles to go through to find the right woman to carry their child.”

A spokesperson for the couple just released a statement debunking these rumors. The rep told AfterElton,
“If Star says it, then it must be true! No, we are not currently expecting a baby. Maybe someday…”

Neil Patrick Harris Hosts 2009 Tony Awards

Neil Patrick Harris attends the 2009 Tony Awards held at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday (June 7) in New York City.

If you’re on the East Coast, tune into CBS now!!! The opening number started off with Elton John singing and Billy Elliot boys dancing. It then moved onto the casts of West Side Story, Guys & Dolls, Rock of Ages (with Poison’s Bret Michaels, Pal Joey, Next To Normal, Shrek, 9 to 5 (with Dolly Parton), Liza’s at the Palace (with Liza Minnelli), and Hair!

Basically all of Broadway was on stage at Radio City Music Hall during the opening number. Standing O!

NPH joked, “I’m told that was the biggest and most expensive number in the history of the Tony Awards… And that is why I am the host tonight (tilts head).”

P.S. I was lucky enough to attend the Tony’s rehearsals earlier this morning and you’ll want to stick around for the closing number. Let’s just say it involves NPH! More tweets from the rehearsals @jaredeng.
