The Wedding Singer opens on Broadway tonight!  I was lucky enough to see it earlier this month while it was still in previews and I definitely had a blast, especially with all of the 80’s references. Rita Gardner, who plays Robbie’s grandmother, gives a standout performance in a knee-slapping rap called "Move That Thang".  Watch for that. I was on the floor the whole time!  I wouldn’t go as far to say that The Wedding Singer is the new Hairspray but it comes close. Great set and costumes, memorable music and a good cast make it a solid show.  I really enjoyed the songs "It’s Your Wedding Day", "Get Out Of The Dumpster", "Saturday Night In The City" and "Grow Old With You."  You can’t go wrong with 80’s-pop, can you?  The Wedding Singer soundtrack hasn’t been released yet but for now, you can sample two of the songs –

New York, NY :: Actor Jake Gyllenhaal, 25, took his skateboard for another ride this past Friday and showed off his newly clean-shaven mug while buying his morning coffee.  Recently, Jake was nominated for two MTV Movie Awards — Best Performance and Best Kiss (along with Heath Ledger) in Brokeback Mountain.  Congratulations, Jake, on the double nomination… and finally shaving that awful Appalachian-style beard of yours!

New York, NY :: This mother-daughter duo look pretty in pink!  Actress Julianne Moore, 45, took daughter Liv Helen Freundlich, 4, for a stroll in a stroller down the streets of Manhattan this past Friday sans husband / writer / director Bart Freundlich, 36.  Julianne plays Julian, the leader of an underground opposition group, in her next film Children of Men opening this fall on Friday, September 29, 2006.  Children of Men is directed by Alfonso Cuarón (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Y tu mamá también) and co-stars Clive Owen, Charlie Hunnam, and Michael Caine. New York, NY :: Singer/actress Mandy Moore, 22, walked down the streets of Manhattan yesterday afternoon, making a couple of purchases at the SoHo branch of MAC cosmetics located at 113 Spring St.  Mandy’s next film is Richard Kelly’s comedy musical thriller Southland Tales co-starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, The Rock, Seann William Scott, and Bai Ling.  Earlier this week, it was announced that Southland Tales will be shown at this this year’s Cannes Film Festival.  More pictures in the gallery!

New York, NY :: The New York Daily News reported that Rachel Weisz was spotted in SoHo bump-free this past Thursday but Weisz was actually photographed picking up groceries Thursday with bump intact. The Oscar-winning actress’s first child with fiancée / director Darren Aronofsky is due by month’s end. More pictures in the gallery!

New York, NY :: Sienna Miller exuded effortless style trotting down the streets of Manhattan’s meatpacking district yesterday afternoon. She wore a shapeless fair weather dress, a modern graphic Mondrian-with-triangles.  Sienna paired her Mondrian dress with gladiator sandals from Miu Miu — leather straps, rhinestones and gold studded details. 

Walking through New York City’s East Village, Sienna locked elbows with one of her BFFs and her mysterious mustache male friend was not far behind (pictured after the jump). They checked out kitschy clothing store Trash & Vaudeville located at 4 St. Mark’s Place. More pictures in the gallery!

SoHo, New York :: Actress Scarlett Johansson, 21, put her silver bull-style nose-ring back into her style repetoire as she ate lunch yesterday afternoon at Blue Ribbon Manahttan Restaurant, located at 97 Sullivan Street (bet. Spring and Prince streets). It was recently announced that Scarlett and singer/actress Alicia Keys will be teaming up for the big screen version of The Nanny Diaries.  Johansson will star as a working-class woman who becomes a nanny to a wealthy New York City family, while Keys will play he part of her best friend.  More pictures in the gallery!
