Nicole Kidman (in Jil Sander) attends a special screening of Margot at the Wedding presented by The Cinema Society at NYC’s Tribeca Grand Hotel on Thursday. The 40-year-old actress joined costar Jennifer Jason Leigh and Leigh’s real-life spouse, Noah Baumbach, who wrote and directed the film.

USA Today just published a great interview with Nicole. Here are some great snippets:

On not being relevant while married to Tom Cruise: “Tom and I, we moved and moved and moved. Your sense of where do I come from becomes less and less relevant. A lot of my life, particularly when I was working so much, it was about trying to fill in the gaps. Now there’s much more reason to exist in the world without my identity needing to be through work.”

On what’s next: “I’m going to Germany to do a film called The Reader for six weeks. Naomi Watts, my girlfriend, is going to be shooting in Berlin. She just had a little baby. She’s doing a film with Clive Owen there. I don’t know Germany at all. I’ve been to the Berlin film festival, and that’s it.”

On globe-trotting and if it ever gets to her: “I get sick of being away from my family. The actual traveling, I enjoy. I manage a pretty good life in terms of ducking and weaving and having protection. I’m not someone who seeks out paparazzi photos. I prefer to be left alone. Most of the time, I work out ways to navigate the cities, but I get recognized pretty much all about the world, which is a weird feeling sometimes. Not in a bad way. People, in general, are just lovely. They just say, hey, they do a double-take, that’s the general thing.”

On how she maintains her flawless skin: “I wore a lot of sunscreen. I never go in the sun. I’ve had one skin cancer on my leg, and I rarely get in the sun, so that just shows you. They cut it out. Stay out of the sun, because it is the worst thing in terms of aging. I’m very medical. I come from a medical family.” (Her father is a clinical psychologist, and her mother is a nurse educator.)

Nicole Kidman shocks in a pink-purple gradient gown by Alexander McQueen at the 2007 Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday. The Aussie actress came out to support country music star hubby Keith Urban, who held her hand while walking the red carpet.

Keith, 40, is one of five of country’s biggest stars competing for the “Entertainer of the Year” award this year is considered a strong candidate to win the category!

Nicole Kidman and hubby Keith Urban share a tender moment on the red carpet at the 2007 ARIA Awards (Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards) on Sunday in Sydney, Australia. Nic wore a short Versace coat over a lace L’Wren Scott dress and finished her look with detailed Christian Louboutin heels.

The ceremony was held at the Acer Arena at the Sydney Olympic Park complex. Nicole stole the spotlight on the red carpet, signing autographs and greeting fans alongside her Keith, who won the best country album award (his third time winning the same award).

Nic, 40, posed on the red carpet with costar Jennifer Jason Leigh at the premiere presented by the New York Film Festival and Paramount Vantage. Leigh’s real-life spouse, Noah Baumbach, wrote and directed the film.

At Friday’s Q&A, Kidman admitted playing Margot a challenge.

“But when something’s really well written, all you have to do is put yourself into the director’s world,” she said. “I just got lost in the complicated nature of this person, the way she stings people and ultimately stings herself.”

Australia’s hottest celebrity couple, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, hold hands as they leave a downtown Japanese restaurant after a romantic dinner on Saturday night in New York City. (The pair dined at the delicious Omen restaurant in SoHo.)

Nicole has been in town to promote her new movie Margot At The Wedding. The dramedy is schedule to open in limited release on November 16th.

Nicole Kidman never looked better than at New Line Cinema’s Gala, the 40th Anniversary celebration at Lincoln Center’s Fredrick P. Rose Hall on Thursday in New York City.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center saluted New Line Cinema’s 40 years of extraordinary moviemaking to benefit the Film Society’s the In Motion capital building campaign for the new Elinor Bunin-Munroe Film Center.

New Line Cinema’s Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne were honored during a star-studded evening at the Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center in the Time Warner Center. The gala event — which included a sneak peek of New Line’s highly anticipated winter release, The Golden Compass, starring Kidman and Daniel Craig, and directed by Chris Weitz — marks the biggest benefit in the history of the Film Society. All proceeds will go to the capital building campaign.

Nicole Kidman (in Prada) joins writer/director Noah Baumbach and his wife actress Jennifer Jason Leigh for the New York Film Festival Q&A screening of Margot At The Wedding on Friday.

Both Kidman and Leigh star in the film. Jack Black also costars. Nicole’s character, Margot, is a successful but neurotic writer who brings her 11-year-old son (played by newcomer Zane Pais) to spend a weekend visiting her free-spirited sister Pauline (Leigh) on the eve of her wedding to Black’s character. Margot disapproves of Pauline’s choice of fiancé, which causes tension between the two sisters.

FYI: Jake Gyllenhaal grabbed lunch with Baumbach last month.
