Parker Posey has pulled out of an upcoming off-Broadway play after developing a case of of Lyme disease.
The 40-year-old actress was set to play the lead role in the play This — about a poet who is a single mother. No replacement for Parker has been announced yet.
Lyme disease is a treatable tick-borne illness that usually results in a rash but if left untreated, could cause severe and chronic symptoms affecting many parts of the body.

At Thursday’s Seventh on Sale dinner gala at NYC’s 69th Regiment Armory, Parker Posey steps out in a fashion-forward ensemble, with focus firmly on a patent and wood pair of Marc Jacobs’ reverse heels, which were unveiled in September at his spring preview show where he paid homage to everything backwards.
Parker matched her intriguing footwear with ribbed tights, an oversized white clutch and a superbrightly patterned dress with a brown moire wrap over it all.
The indie film and Superman actress will star alongside Rachel Dratch and Amy Poehler in Spring Breakdown, March 2008 movie about three thirty-something who try and turn their tragically un-hip lives around and party with the beer and bikini set at the college spring break destination of South Padre Island.
