Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey shows off his abs and competes at the Rolex Grand-Am Series Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona International Speedway at Daytona Beach, Florida on Thursday.

Dempsey, 42, has been racing in his No. 40 Hyper Sport Mazda RX-8 and loving it, saying, “It allows the athletic side of my nature to come out. It’s such a nice departure from Los Angeles and Hollywood.”

“The situational awareness is basically the same,” he said. “In acting, you have to be aware of the camera. You have to have situational awareness, of what’s going on in front of you, what’s going on in behind you. There’s aggression and you have to be in control.”

Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan promote their latest movie Made Of Honor on Wednesday at the ME Hotel in Madrid, Spain.

Made of Honor was released in the US back on May 2, and has received a paltry 12% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film did however manage to rank #2, just behind Iron Man in its opening weekend in the US.

Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan visit MTV’s TRL in Times Square on Monday in New York City.

Dempsey and Monaghan’s Made of Honor hits theaters this Friday May 2nd.

The Grey’s Anatomy star, 42, plays a man named Tom Bailey who is in love with his best friend, Hannah. After a rich Scotsman sweeps her off her feet, things get interesting when Hannah asks Tom to be her Maid of Honor!

Patrick will be accompanied by none other than Donatella Versace at the Rome premiere. He currently serves at the face of Versace, for the 2008 spring/summer line.

Patrick Dempsey talks to Parade about his dreamy good looks, dropping out of high school and pec envy of his Grey’s Anatomy co-star Eric Dane. Here are some of the interview’s highlights:

On being jealous of the bigger and buffer types in Hollywood: “I’m not Eric Dane. McSteamy is in perfect shape. I definitely have pec envy. There’s a lot of pressure being a man in this town.”

On his 1-year-old twin boys, Darby and Sullivan: “It’s like a slapstick routine watching these drunk little men run around because they’re wobbly. (chuckles) When you see something happen that they couldn’t do the day before, it’s really heartwarming.”

On missing the chaos of family life when he’s away: “I was in the gilded cages of all these great hotels, and I just couldn’t figure out why I was so depressed. It was too quiet. I’m used to the noise and the laughter and even the crying.”

On celebrity getting to his head: “It gets very heady, fame. You’ve got to be very careful. I think I’ve been managing that well. This is a great opportunity now to really define the next part of my life. I just want to do it right.”

On dropping out of high school and moving to L.A. for acting. “I was dyslexic, so I never had the skills for school. By listening to books on tape, going to lectures or watching documentaries and finding out how I needed to learn, that’s when my education began. I had a hunger for learning and was constantly seeking to improve myself.”

Made of Honor opens everywhere on Friday, May 2. Here’s the plot: A guy (Dempsey) in love with an engaged woman (Michelle Monaghan) tries to win her over after she asks him to be her maid of honor.

After his usual workout at the Easton Gym, Patrick Dempsey drives his sporty Porsche 997 GT3 RS to Heritage Classics in Los Angeles on Friday to look at some classic automobiles.

Last week,the Grey’s Anatomy star earned another nickname – McGiver! The dad of three showed his philanthropic side when he unveiled a cancer center in his name at the Central Maine Medical Center, in his hometown of Lewiston, Maine.

“For a family to get a cancer diagnosis is devastating, and all the information out there can be overwhelming,” Dempsey, 42, said. “So I talked to my sister about a place where people could go for all this type of information and help. Knowledge is power.”

The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing, will official open on March 31. His sister Mary will run the center, which was inspired by his mother Amanda Dempsey (she fought ovarian cancer and is not cancer free).

On Friday night, the casts of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice joined together for a musical benefit at UCLA’s Royce Hall to benefit crew members who were affected by the writer’s strike. Here’s a brief rundown of the charity event dubbed “Good Medicine”:

– A taped message of McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) kicked off the show. He said he was in Japan promoting his Disney film Enchanted.
– Sara Ramirez’s booming voice brought the house to its feet with a performance of the song “Meadowlark.”
–TR Knight tackled the song “Losing My Mind/You Could Drive A Person Crazy” from Sondheim’s “Follies.” But he first begged for a little understanding,”It’s been 13 years since I’ve done something like this and I’m following Sara Ramirez.”
– Kate Walsh kicked off the second half of the show with a taped message. She said she was down in Australia promoting Private Practice. While getting a massage on her hotel balcony Kate joked, “We have all felt the affect of the strike especially in my neck and shoulders.”
