Courteney Cox and husband David Arquette host a backyard BBQ party for their friends at their home in Malibu, Calif., on Sunday.

The celebrities in attendance included actress Laura Dern, Ellen DeGeneres and her longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi as well as Cox’s BFF and former Friends star Jennifer Aniston (sans boyfriend John Mayer). Portia and Ellen both wore fedoras that matched their outfits!

Looks like a great summer home with a tennis court, crystal clear pool and massive stainless steel grills!

Ellen DeGeneres has announced on her talk show that she plans to wed Portia de Rossi now that the California Supreme Court has ruled in favor of gay marriages.

Portia, 35, was in the studio at the time, and Ellen, 50, were applauded by audience members after the announcement was made on Thursday.

Ellen previously had a high-profile relationship with actress Anne Heche. In 1997, Ellen appeared on the cover of Time Magazine entitled, “Yep, I’m Gay”

The taped episode of Ellen making the announcement is said to air today, Friday.

Of note: They are both wearing commitment/wedding rings!

Funnywoman Ellen DeGeneres is congratulated with a kiss from girlfriend Portia de Rossi (in Zac Posen) after The Ellen DeGeneres Show picked up the trophy for “Outstanding Talk Show” at the 2007 Daytime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Friday. This is Ellen’s third consecutive win. She also picked up Outstanding Talk Show Host.

In her acceptance speech, Ellen jokingly called Bob Barker a “quitter” (he’s retiring as host of The Price is Right after 35 years and 50 years in all on television).

Ellen DeGeneres and girlfriend Portia De Rossi were seen leaving the Book Soup bookstore on Sunset Strip on Saturday, June 9, 2007.

The two were perusing around for books and reading material before they left the store carrying bags full of books and magazines.

The 49 year-old comedian has been working side-by-side with American Express in some commercial spots that feature celebrities promoting the credit card company. Other celebrities in the bunch include Martin Scorsese, Sheryl Crow, Alicia Keys and athletes Andre Agassi and Shaun White.

Celebrities came out in droves for music mogul Clive Davis‘ pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday night in Beverly Hills — Tyra Banks, Whitney Houston, Ellen DeGeneres with girlfriend Portia De Rossi, Ciara, Vanessa Minnillo with boyfriend Nick Lachey, and JC Chasez (below). Whitney is wearing Roberto Cavalli.

Justin Timberlake backed out of performing because he has the flu. I knew he didn’t look all there on Friday Night at the launch of “JT-TV.” Maybe he got the cooties from K-Fed when they hugged. Anything’s possible, right? I wonder if Justin’s going to be a no show at the Grammys…

Clive found a quick replacement for Justin and tapped Motown music legend Smokey Robinson to perform “My Girl.” (Sidenote: Clive signed UK’s Leona Lewis in a $10 million contract.)

The bigger the star, the less time they spend on the red carpet. It appeared that [Christina] Aguilera only stopped for still photographers and then just kept walking down the red carpet.

We were given warning, “Clive and Whitney are coming down. They’re not going to stop, so get your shot.”

And indeed, they didn’t. A reporter shouted, “Whitney, how are you doing?” She said, without missing a step, “Cavalli, Cavalli,” referring to her dress designer, who also attended the party.

Obviously not one of Tyra’s best looks…

• Time once quoted you as saying there’s too much sex out there. I do think there’s too much, and I don’t have a kid. The lyrics of songs, everything; I just feel like every kid is growing up too fast and they’re seeing too much. Everything is about sex, and that’s fine for me. I’m not saying I don’t like it. But I don’t think it should be everywhere, where kids are exposed to everything sexual. Because they have to have some innocence; there’s just no innocence left.
• Do you consider yourself a spiritual person? I think that’s all we are, if we tap into it…. The praying starts when you’re faced with something, obviously. I just make a point of being aware of it every single day, all day if I can.
• Do you believe in God? I believe that’s a label for something.
