Rachel Weisz is all smiles in a Marc Jacobs dress and leather jacket at the premiere of her new movie, Agora, at Biblioteca Nacional on Tuesday (October 6) in Madrid, Spain.

The 39-year-old British actress, who finished off her look with Barbara Bui shoes, was joined by her co-stars Oscar Isaac and Max Minghella.

Agora was recently awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Feature Film Prize. The $25,000 prize is given to an outstanding film that explores science and technology and “depicts scientists and engineers in a realistic and compelling fashion,” according to the foundation’s website.

Doron Weber, the Vice President for the Sloan Foundation, said, “Rachel Weisz’s fierce and moving portrayal of the great fifth century female astronomer and mathematician Hypatia of Alexandria…reminds us why science and technology cut to the heart of the human enterprise and make for high-stakes cinematic drama.” Sounds like two thumbs up!

Rachel Weisz leaves the Donmar Warehouse Theatre after her final performance in the play A Streetcar Named Desire on Saturday (October 3) in London, England.

Is anyone else devastated that they won’t be able to see Rachel on the London stage? Like Jude Law in Hamlet, they need to bring Weisz to Broadway with Streetcar!

Rachel’s new movie The Lovely Bones opens in limited release on December 11.

Sir Ian McKellen comes out to support fellow British actor Rachel Weisz at her new play Streetcar Named Desire at London’s Donmar Warehouse Theatre on Monday (August 24).

In December, Rachel and costars Mark Wahlberg and Susan Sarandon are expected at the Embassy Theatre in Wellington, New Zealand for the premiere of their new movie, The Lovely Bones. The flick was directed by Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings, King Kong).

Rachel Weisz dons an Isabel Marant dress during press night for her new play A Streetcar Named Desire at London’s National Cafe on Tuesday (July 28)

The 39-year-old British actress was accompanied by her husband, director Darren Aronofsky.

Rachel gives a mesmerizing performance as Blanche DuBois in the Streetcar Named Desire. The Hollywood Reporter says, “Weisz is exactly the right age for Blanche, and though she can do nothing to make her radiant features appear faded, she conveys acutely the woman’s sense of loss and desperate need for emotional nourishment.”

The Daily Telegraph adds, “Weisz rises to the challenge magnificently. Her undoubted beauty is combined here with a fluttering, birdlike nervousness and sudden moments of desperate panic that wrench the heart.”

Rachel will be performing at London’s Donmar Warehouse, through Oct. 3.

Rachel Weisz doesn’t dig the frozen faces of Hollywood, she tells the August 2009 issue of UK’s Harper’s Bazaar (via Fox News).

“It should be banned for actors, as steroids are for sportsmen,” the 39-year-old British actress says of Botox. “Acting is all about expression; why would you want to iron out a frown?”

As for fashion, Rachel says, “I love the way girls in London dress; it’s so different to the American ‘blow-dry and immaculate grooming’ thing.”

The 39-year-old British actress, who finished off her look with vintage Cartier earrings and bangles, says the story of her character Hypatia of Alexandria resonates today.

“Really, nothing has changed. I mean, we have huge technological advances and medical advances, but in terms of people killing each other in the name of God, fundamentalism still abounds,” Rachel says. “And in certain cultures, women are still second-class citizens, and they’re denied education.”

Agora is a historical drama set in Roman Egypt, concerning a slave (Max Minghella) who turns to the rising tide of Christianity in the hopes of pursuing freedom while also falling in love with his master, the famous female philosophy professor and atheist Hypatia of Alexandria (Weisz). The flick is set to open in December 2009.

Rachel Weisz attends the screening of her new movie, The Brothers Bloom, with costar Adrien Brody at NYC’s Tribeca Grand Screening Room on Thursday (May 7).

The 39-year-old British actress finished off her look with a Bottega Veneta clutch, Solange Azagury-Partridge jewels, and Jimmy Choo’s “Keenan” platform sandals.

“I don’t have too many hidden blessings in real life so I kind of have to fake them all on screen,” Rachel told FWD of her role in The Brothers Bloom. “I had to pretend to know how to play accordion, be a master in ping-pong and rap. Rapping was really hard though, because Adrien is a kid from Queens and I’m a girl from East London. So pretending to have rhythm in front of him was REALLY embarrassing and probably was one of the scariest moments in my life!”

One can only guess why Adrien has blue streaks in his hair!

The Brothers Bloom opens in limited release on Friday, May 15, and wide on May 29.
