Rachel McAdams and Robert Downey Jr. appear onstage together during a panel discussion for Sherlock Holmes at the Comic-Con 2009 held at the San Diego Convention Center on Friday (July 24).

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdam’s romantic drama The Notebook is currently being reworked as a stage musical. The musical is being adapted by One Tree Hill actress Bethany Joy Galeotti and record producer Ron Aniello, the NY Daily News reported last week.

Gwyneth Paltrow, who played the plucky assistant Pepper Potts in the original Iron Man, will be promoted to head of Stark Industries in the sequel but will face some romantic competition from Scarlett Johansson as the villain Black Widow (she has keen hand-to-hand combat skills).

Mickey Rourke plays Ivan Vanko, or Whiplash, a weapons dealer who acts as Tony Stark’s alter-ego.

Robert Downey Jr., of course, returns as Stark/Iron Man and Don Cheadle replaces Terrence Howard as Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes.

The cast of Iron Man 2 — Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr. and Mickey Rourke — take the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly.

Scarlett plays Russian super spy Natasha Romanoff, aka the Black Widow and Rourke plays Ivan Vanko, aka Whiplash. Iron Man 2 opens in theaters everywhere on May 7, 2010 and was directed by Jon Favreau.

Gwyneth Paltrow will be back as crafty executive assistant Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard as Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes and Samuel L. Jackson plays Nick Fury.

Jude’s tag line reads “Crime Will Pay.” RDJ’s reads “Nothing Escapes Him.” The Guy Ritchie-directed film is set for a Christmas 2009 release.

Other pictures include Jude signing autographs and taking pictures with fans outside Wyndham’s Theatre in London on Thursday night (June 18). He had just performed again in the new production of Hamlet.

Robert Downey Jr. enjoyed the great outdoors with a cigar overlooking the beach during a private Memorial Day party on Monday (May 25) in Malibu, Calif.

The 44-year-old actor is currently shooting scenes for Iron Man 2, and was recently photographed training with a stuntman for a fight scene in the movie.

A trailer was recently released for Sherlock Holmes, which also stars Guy Ritchie and Rachel McAdams. Sherlock Holmes will open just in time for Christmas, on Decemeber 25, 2009.

With only a pillow to hide his modesty, Robert Downey Jr. gets handcuffed by his costar Rachel McAdams in this screencap from the first official trailer for Sherlock Holmes.

The core of the story portrays the relationship between the bohemian Sherlock Holmes (Downey) and bourgeois Dr. John H Watson (Jude Law). The Guy Ritchie-directed film is set for a Christmas 2009 release.

“There are many duos we wanted to draw from,” Jude says. “Something as eccentric as The Odd Couple to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Withnail and I and Laurel and Hardy. It’s the kind of friendship you can only have with someone of the same sex, a person you adore but who infuriates you.”
