Sandra Bullock proposes to costar Ryan Reynolds on Friday morning on the New York City set of their new romantic comedy, The Proposal.

Curiously enough, last month, it was announced that Ryan, 31, and Scarlett Johansson, 23, became engaged (in real life, of course).

In the film, Bullock, 43, stars as a Canadian immigrant who creates a difficult and complicated work environment for her subordinates at the office. When the news arrives that she’s about to be deported back to her homeland, she rushes into a marriage of convenience with her young assistant (Reynolds) to prevent such a calamity from taking place.

Directing The Proposal is Anne Fletcher (Step Up, 27 Dresses). Bullock’s handbag by Prada, peep-toe pumps by Christian Louboutin.

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are engaged!!!

Scarlett’s rep Marcel Parisea tells People, “They’re both thrilled.”

Scarlett, 23, and Ryan, 31, have been romantically linked for about one year. Ryan called off his engagement to singer Alanis Morissette back in February 2007. Scarlett dated actor Josh Hartnett for about two years until the end of 2006.

Conveniently, Scarlett’s debut album Anywhere I Lay My Head is due out soon. May 20!

Ryan Reynolds holds hands with girlfriend Scarlett Johansson as they cross the street together in Newton, Massachusetts on Saturday.

Mr. Reynolds is in town shooting his new romantic comedy, The Proposal, about a pushy boss forcing her her young assistant to marry her in order to keep her Visa status in the United States. Sandra Bullock also costars.

Ryan, 31, and Scarlett, 23, have been together for about a year now.

Just last week, Ms. Johansson released the cover art for hew new album “Anywhere I Lay My Head”, out May 20.

Ryan Reynolds is set to make an appearance as Deadpool in the new Wolverine movie, according to AICN.

The 31-year-old cut Canuck will star as the fictional comic book character alongside Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine. Check out the description of Ryan’s character from Wiki:

“Deadpool is a high-tech mercenary known for his wisecracks, black humor, and satirical pop-culture references. Ryan Reynolds spends time in New York City promoting his latest romantic comedy, Definitely, Maybe, which has garnered a mediocre 64% on RottenTomatoes.com. (Ryan is back in Los Angeles already.)

While in the Big Apple, Ryan made an appearance on Live with Regis & Kelly!. How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris filled in for Regis. You can watch a clip here.

Co-host Kelly Ripa asked Ryan if he was always a funny guy. Ryan joked, “I’m the youngest of four brothers, so I’m really more of moving target than a brother. You have to learn your verbal judo early to get your punches in.”

Ryan Reynolds joins costar Hayden Panettiere at the photo call for their upcoming film Fireflies In The Garden as part of the 2008 Berlinale Film Festival at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Sunday in Berlin, Germany.

In the film, Ryan Reynolds plays the first son, Michael Waechter, of Julia Roberts‘ character, Lisa Waechter.

A clean-shaven Ryan Reynolds gives a great big ol’ man-hug to director/writer Adam Brooks at the Santa Barbara Film Festival premiere of Definitely, Maybe held on Thursday at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Ryan looks so boyish-looking without facial hair! He looks more Berg from Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place than Hannibal King from Blade: Trinity.

Definitely, Maybe is about political consultant Will Hayes, who tries to explain his impending divorce and past relationships to his 11-year-old daughter Maya (Abigail Breslin). The previous relationships include hook-ups with Rachel Weisz, Isla Fisher and Elizabeth Banks.

Ryan recently told Britain’s Radio One a story about her young costar: “I took Abigail out for the day to see if we got on or not. She wanted to go to the museum of Natural History in New York and look at the turtles. I felt like I was 12 when I walked in and 30 when I left. We were there forever. Then she dragged me to a toy store. I was longing for the sweet release of death by the third hour of this. I thought, ‘I will just buy the kid whatever she wants.’ She said, ‘I will take that stuffed animal.’ I took it and walked to the till and gave the guy my credit card. As we were walking out I checked my receipt and it was $300 - for a stuffed animal! “I couldn’t believe it. I said to Abigail, ‘This was a $300 giraffe. Did you realize that? You could buy a real one for less!’ She said, ‘Oh wow!’ Then her mother came up and that is when I fell in love with her. “She told her mom, ‘Ryan bought me a $300 stuffed toy - what an idiot!’ From that moment on I was helplessly in love with this little girl.”

Beefcake Ryan Reynolds (sans leading lady Scarlett Johansson) cruises down Melrose Ave in West Hollywood on Wednesday. The 31-year-old Canadian hunk rode a Ducati Paul Smart 1000 Motorcycle.

UK movie magazine Empire also recently ranked Ryan as #67 in their list of 100 sexiest stars of all time.

Ryan also has a movie coming out next month called Definitely, Maybe. The romantic comedy opens up on Valentine’s Day! It also costars Rachel Weisz, Elizabeth Banks, Abigail Breslin and new mom Isla Fisher (Sacha Baron Cohen’s fiancee).

Here’s a brief synopsis: Reynolds stars as Will Hayes, a 30-something Manhattan dad in the midst of a divorce when his 10 year-old daughter, Maya (Breslin), starts to question him about his life before marriage. Maya wants to know absolutely everything about how her parents met and fell in love. Is her mother Will’s college sweetheart, the dependable girl next-door Emily (Banks)? Is she his longtime best friend and confidante, the apolitical April (Fisher)? Or is she the free-spirited but ambitious journalist Summer (Weisz)?
